SuperSport United succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Gor Mahia in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup playoff in Nairobi.
Morgan Gould tested out the home goalkeeper with a headed attempt after 15 minutes, before George Odihiambo had a perfect chance to open the scoring but his attempt went wide five minutes later.
Soon after, Thuso Phala played Luke Le Roux on goal but he failed to capitalise with a shot that went wide.
Francis Kahata attempted a free-kick which went just inches over the bar in the 38th minute as the hosts upped the tempo.
The first half ended with no team finding the back of the net.
Ten minutes into the second half, Riyaad Pieterse came to SuperSport's rescue as he tipped over George's powerful shot.
In the 78th minute, Gor Mahia then took the lead after being awarded a penalty, which was converted by Jacques Tuyisenge.
Try as they may, the South Africans could not find the elusive away goal, as Gor Mahia take a slight advantage into the second leg.
