SIPHIWE TSHABALALA SET TO LEAVE KAIZER CHIEFS

Bafana Bafana left-winger Siphiwe Tshabalala has admitted that top Greek side Olympiakos are chasing his services.

As KickOff.com reported on Friday, the Kaizer Chiefs man says he is also aware of the strong interest from Romanian side Steaua Bucharest, and that he would be interested in moving to the Eastern European club if they could match Chiefs' valuation of him.

The 25-year-old has been the subject of intense media speculation since scoring a cracking opening goal for Bafana in their 1-1 draw with Mexico at the World Cup, and he says there have been offers from across Europe.

“We received offers from France, Greece, Holland and England, and I think I would like to sign there,” Tshabalala told Romanian newspaper Gazette Sports. “I have proposed terms that I would be happy with and I have discussed these with my agent. Nothing has been decided yet; we need to have more discussions, but I hope to have everything sorted out this week.

“The Greece offer is a strong one. I know it’s Olympiakos, but we'll see what happens. My goal is to go to one of Greece, France, England or Romania and to play as much as I can and help my new team!”

Olympiakos finished a disappointing fifth in the Greek championship last season; this after they won the title five times in a row between 2005 and 2009. They have just, however, signed Spanish left-winger Albert Rieira from Liverpool, which may make a move for Tshabalala unlikely.

But the player says he would also welcome the chance to play for Steaua.

“From what I read I know that Steaua won the Champions League [old European Cup] in 1986 and has very good players. Honestly, I thought it was a joke when I heard about their interest. It's an important club with European experience,” Tshabalala says.

"The World Cup was good in helping me to find a club in Europe. My goal now is to reach an ambitious team, a strong team, where I can show my qualities."
