ALMIRO LOBO PUTS FOCUS ON REF PETER MABUZA AGAIN

Platinum Stars captain Almiro Lobo, who believes he was wrongfully sent off against Golden Arrows in the Telkom Knockout Cup match on Saturday, has raised concern at what he believes to be inconsistency on the part of local match officials.

The Mozambican international singles out referee Peter Mabuza after his sending off in the Last 16 match played at Chatsworth Stadium.

The leftback received his marching orders during injury time after a second bookable offence in a match that his team eventually lost 2-1, thereby bowing out of the tournament that Dinaledi were the first to win in 2006.

"The referees are not consistent," says Lobo, who had an altercation with Joseph Musonda before his sending off.

"One of my teammates was bleeding during the match and it was Musonda who injured him. The referee merely spoke to Musonda and didn't do anything further. It is not fair at all."

This is not the first time that complaints have been raised about Mabuza's officiating.

Last year, he faced demotion after his handling of an MTN8 semi-final match between Kaizer Chiefs and hosts Ajax Cape Town ended in a riot at the stadium.

In 2007, he was temporarily not handed any games to officiate following a bungle in the League match between Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits in 2007.

Mabuza failed to order Wits' midfielder Bienvenu Tipa off the field immediately after showing him two yellow cards during the match at Athlone which Ajax won 5-2.

It was a fourth official Nomvula Masilela who drew Mabuza attention to the error a couple of minutes later. The ref then rectified his error and the Cameroonian was sent off an early shower.

Lobo attributes Stars' loss to Arrows to a lack of concentration.

Steve Komphela's men slumped to their sixth successive defeat in Cup and League competition on Saturday after throwing away a one-goal lead.

"I think we lost focus after Luis Renteria scored our goal as we conceded two goals in three minutes," he says.

Mabuza is not fit to be a proffesional refree, just recently he let a game between Arrows and Celtics to go on when the pitch was totally unplayable even "The Proffesor" wasnt happy about it on the soccer show but nothing was done.Mgqithi complained about players safety after the game, they never callled him for a hearing because they knew the refree had blundered big time.

Is this the same ref that stopped a match 5 min before half time, thinking it was halftime? If so, with the way he is carrying on, this guy is defnly not starving Sweyts!!

This is the same referee who judged Kaizer jnr to be offside against Moroka Swallows in the same competition 2seasons ago. He was was saved the embarassment by Khune in the penalties. Surely the powers that be are not blind or they just choose to ignore all these damning FACTS!
