WAYNE SANDILANDS, EDUARDO FERREIRA, MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

Mamelodi Sundowns fans might have gone home very happy after ending the Absa Premiership on high note, beating Golden Arrows 3-0 at Super Stadium on Saturday but the day also turned to be special for both goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands and defender Eduardo Ferreira as they made their debuts in the Brazilian colours during the same game.

Both Sandilands and Ferreira have struggled to break into Sundowns' starting line-up since arriving at Chloorkop in December, but they finally introduced themselves in great style to the Brazilians fans with good performances at the Super Stadium on Saturday.

Whilst Sandilands was proud to keep a clean sheet in his debut, Ferreira was unlucky when his goal, a brilliant header in the second half, was disallowed by the referee.

Speaking to KickOff.com afterwards, Ferreira conceded that there was a different feeling when playing for a big team like Sundowns.

"I was very happy when everybody told me that I played well. I never expected to play well after being out of action for almost six months, something that has never happened in my career before.

"It was great to walk in front of the Sundowns fans. The jersey felt a little bit heavy but there was a special feeling to finally wear it. That was made more sweet to be on the winning side in my first game for Sundowns. It would have been great to be one of the goal scorers but I was unlucky when the referee decided to disallow it."

Sandilands says even though he was also happy to keep a clean sheet in his first game, he was even happier that his team picked up all three points.

"My performance on Saturday has really motivated me to continue working hard and to play more games for Sundowns."

Sweyts, that's probably when the former giants were playing for the Sales House cup and the JPS's.Both Wayne and Eduardo acquitted themselves very well and they are more that welcome to the question of style. When we signed them we anticapated loosing a lot of players to the national team. They will have a chance to stake their claim on that heavy, stylish jersey. For Bafana ba style it's a question of style.
