Chiefs continue good run

Posted: 14 May 2008 Time: 21:19

Kaizer Chiefs have continued their good form and moved into fifth in the Absa Premiership with a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday night.

Amakhosi were always in control of the game and goals in either half from Arthur Zwane and Mabhuti Khenyeza sealed the three points.

There were few chances in the first half, though Chiefs did have the better of the play and deserved their lead at the break.

Siphiwe Tshabalala had the first shot in anger, but his low drive was palmed to safety by Shu-Aib Walters in the visitors’ goal.

An excellent turn from Petrus Mahlatsi created some space, but his shot from the edge of the area was always going wide of Itumeleng Khune’s goal.

But the breakthrough came on 43 minutes as brilliant work from Tshabalala on the left saw the winger drive to the byline, and lay the ball back to Zwane, who side-footed home from the middle of the box to give Amakhosi the lead.

Khenyeza should have done better from a Jimmy Tau cross just after the break, but glanced his header well wide of the post with not a defender in sight, while Darrel Smith went just wide at the other end with a shot from outside the box.

But an excellent through-ball for Khenyeza on 67 minutes saw the striker round the on-rushing Walters, and coolly side-foot home to double Chiefs’ advantage.

Thuso Phala almost added a third five minutes from time when his rocket shot was well-saved by Walters.

What a performance! That was the chiefs we know. Let us be patient with Muhsin, he has a potential to take the team to the top. Come next season, we will be unstopable like a tsunami! We are still expecting the services of Jose Torrealba upfront.....

Can you Chiefs for once stop hallucinating a be real. Celtics lost NOT because Chiefs was strong, but because they never competed and they were pathetic. Unless if you are anticipating every team that you are gonna face next to be as pathetic as Celtics, then I'll understand this whole ululation. It's TOO early to call yourselves conquerers. What strength of Chiefs are you talking about if Celtics couldn't even string 3 passes to save their lives. Against Pirates (a team that was almost competitive) you won by a slender 1 goal. Pls get real. Otherwise we will always be on your case when you lose because someone seriously needs to bring you into reality. You team still has a long way to go before you claim yourself "almighty".

Second point, please stop playing football at 120km/h. That why you struggled to win because it is amateur football. Ajax master it because they are still "wet" from development. You are supposed to be big team so play like one!!!

Comparing Sunflower and AMAKHOSI'S achievement for the season, Chiefs have achieved better, coz we won the Telkom cup and we shall finish in the top 5 bracket, Sunflower has won nothing, Nedbank cup is going to Mpumalanga BABA!!!!!

Guys, please stop it with the typing, some haters may mistaken it for noise. Sashi, after beating you (Pirate), you were so angry, i could swear you lost a bet and you said Celitc will do the job for you. Now that Chiefs has done away with celtic, i guess your last bet is Leopards. Please keep loathing Chiefs, I love it cause it keeps us going. Mfundo, Prof, Richos, Sabelo and all the AMAKHOSI patriots, guess who is queuing for stress tablets NOW.
