Premier Soccer League match report SuperSport United Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 31 August 2013 Time: 17:34

SuperSport United kept their 100 percent record in the Premiership with a come-from-behind 3-1 win over champions Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday night.

The League leaders, with nine points from three games, prevailed via strikes from Man of the Match Enocent Mkhabela, Bennett Chenene and Bradley Grobler after Bernard Parker opened the scoring at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

In a cagey affair, Chiefs came close 18 minutes in but Bafana Bafana winger Siphiwe Tshabalala's rasping left-footed shot was parried to safety by goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

At the other end, former Moroka Swallows midfielder David Mathebula ballooned his long-range effort over 10 minutes later.

Soon after, Knowledge Musona earned his side a penalty when he fired the ball into the hand of Edwin Gyimah in the area.

Parker converted the spot-kick for his third goal of the season to put the Glamour Boys narrowly ahead at the recess.

The visitors threatened soon after the break, as Tshabalala's free-kick from the edge of the area was kept out by Williams.

United, however, replied with interest in the 55th minute, as Mkhabela thundered home a sublime touch by Mathebula  following Thabo September's long ball from the back.

Amakhosi nearly hit back in the 63rd minute but Williams pulled off a miracle stop to foil Musona from two yards out after Parker did well to tee up his striker partner.

The hosts, though, took the lead in the 70th minute through Chenene, who tapped in on the rebound after Chiefs skipper Itumeleng Khune blocked a powerful strike from Thuso Phala.

Grobler extended the advantage three minutes later from the spot after Bafana defender Siboniso Gaxa unwittingly clipped the heel of Chenene in the area.

Stuart Baxter's men were unable to find a way back, resulting in their first League loss of the campaign.

What the hell is zebras defending here? Somebody better tell chimps that the second leg of mtn8 is on 24th of sept and that its bucs holding the advantage. No need for them to defend nothing, its a league game worth 3 points up for grabs. Mxm, baloyi just had one shot early on and now invincible. Mxm another fake penalty to chimps, that was ball to hand. Brown envelope again. WHITE RED AND BLACK, TILL THIS SHADY BUSINESS GETS EXPOSED.

3-5-2 it is. Im still asking what the hell is Gaxa doin ther? Hes been awful since january as well-let him enjoy the bench as well . Give gordinhof or Moleko a chance instead of this guy. aside from gaxa's inclusion, its a solid lineup. so glad to see Baloyi getting game tyme ,Yeye must rest for now .

lets hope Katsande wont get ANOTHER yellow card or red card, otherwise we will be without a outright defensive midfielder since hes the only one there. Baxter should've signed Madondo.

We wuld have died long time ago!! Chimps always benefit from referees....I respect teams that beat chimps cause they have to deal with match officials....check how many straight red cards were chimps supposed to get first leg but thru did not.

Its clear that the referees are proping the Chimps so that when they struggle to score they just award a dubious penalty.

Whats striking is how other who find themselves in similar situations are awarded nothing.

Mathoho handled against Pirates in a worse manner than what Gyamar did.
