PSL match report Mamelodi Sundowns Platinum Stars

Posted: 28 August 2013 Time: 21:29

Platinum Stars scored a late equaliser to hold a star-studded Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-1 draw at home on Wednesday evening.

Brazilians fans were relieved to see Lebohang Mokoena make his first appearance in almost a year, after a long lay-off after a hip injury. The last time ‘Cheeseboy’ played for Sundowns in an official match was in September 2012.

Sundowns looked to be on course for a second successive win at the start of the season, after Dove Wome put them ahead 13 minutes into the second half, but an 80th minute reply from Robert Ng’ambi saw Dikwena force a deserved draw.

Both sides created early chances from which they should have claimed the lead.

Wome drove a powerful low shot just wide of the target in the fourth minute, while Siphelele Mthembu clipped the outside of the woodwork at the opposite end of the field just a minute later.

Once the defences settled down, scoring opportunities were a lot harder to come by and it was no surprise that the half ended with the teams still deadlocked at 0-0.

Ng’ambi had the only other notable chance of the first half, finding himself in space on the left side of the penalty area in the 40th minute, but his shot was deflected wide of the near post for a corner-kick.

13 minutes into the second half the Brazilians opened the scoring thanks to a goalkeeping howler from Siyabonga Mpontshane.

Wome drove an effort on target from a free-kick, and the Stars keeper made a mess of what should have been a simple save, allowing the ball to skip off his hands and find the net.

With 10 minutes to play Stars got a deserved equaliser. Mthembu hit the woodwork for a second time, off a corner-kick, but the loose ball was put back into the danger area and Ng’ambi was able to outjump Alje Schut and direct a header home from almost on the goal-line.

Eiishhh ! Im really confused, what to make of the game that just ended. On one side platinum stars started like a house on fire, on the other, signflops was running around like headless chickens, not knowing where the goalposts are. Mxm if this is what we'll be up against, then im really not worried at all. Looks like maibuye is in full swing and it will be like taking candy from a baby. Mxm we have no competition at all. Kamina kawena, wallop them Bucselona for sure. WHITE RED AND BLACK AND GOD BLESS FOR NOT SIGNING BILLIAT, MXM USELESS.

Moon=7 he kept his pace fr the betta part of the game, but his distribution of the ball was not that convincing..
Langerman=5 had two gr8 opportunities but his last touch was pretty bad...
Sumalia=9 what a player, played his heart out I don't see Wayne making his way back into the team...
Schut=4 weakest link in our team, he's the reason Platinum equalized nxxxx...
Teko=6 started well in the 1st half, but his game dropped in the 2nd...
Hlompo=8 always gives his best performance, doing dirty work in the middle...
Zungu=9 this boy was everywhere in the pitch created many opportunities fr his teammates...
Billiat=5 he's new in the team, he just needs time to settle in well...
Wome=9 not because he scored, the guy was all over the place, defensively he was there, even when we went offensive...
Malajila=4 the guy didn't come to party tonight, it just wasn't his night...
Great game after all....

CJB Ramses IIIposted: 09:34 pm Ghosts we can rest easy for this season... I have now seen all our so-called competitors for the league title... Hai suka... we are competition-less the nanas...

Kamina Kawenaing is in a league of its own

You seem to conveniently forget the fact that you lost the first game of the season and to Amazulu nogal!!!! Soccer has no THEREFORE points count. How many points do you have on the log?
3........................................................2.....................................................1.................................................
Banjisto I haven't forgetter anything mzala & I also have no points in my bag, as you may or may not know I'm busy making the continent submit to me.

The Dream never does well in the first 5 or so games at the beginning of any season... so this nothing new to me & my hopes... I've won trebles at the bac of such starts...

But what I'm most lamenting is that seemingly Sundowns' players & play are gonna let us down again this season... Where is the fire in the players' eyes...? Where's the passion...? Where's is the rythmetic play from the piano...? Where's there style from the shining shoes...?

Sundowns remains dormant... I'm waiting for them to sprout....

Teboho langerman and Siboniso Gaxa are from the same den smoking dagga together. I don't understand why this langerman was not shown the door. Like I said Pitso's favouritism and arrogance is taking us no where. I doubt if we'll win against arrows. Lets wait and see.

The best chance of Sundowns having players that want to play for them because of some semblance of affection is for them to extract from the development program... it's about time really...

Not the best of options to opt for imported development techniques for their youngsters but it's their only feasible option in having atleast players that play for the badge...

Disappointing from Sundowns.Pitso must do something coz i saw no intensity.Teko has a plastic leg.He just cant shoot.

As for Billiat only time will tell but its obvious to me.

Also, what is the point of having all those top quality players around but fails to select the best 11? Pitso is still experimenting, he had two different starters this time while he had 4 new ones on the bench. I dont know if its just me or what but why mess with the team that thumped celtic? Neeskins made the same mistakes last season and we all know what happened thereafter. signflops has mweene to thank for that point. Sangweni should be in that team. Ramagalela would've been much more effective than malajila. Cheese was unfit. Mphela didn't seem interested. Teko was wasteful. Langerman tried too hard. Billiat was just plain useless. Wome is way overrated and schutz is no captain material. Where was punch, a very hardworking player? Oh and pitso should be fired now, before its too late. WHITE RED AND BLACK, TILL PITSO STOP TALKING BUT DELIVERS.

Mxm , i should have my head examine. Why the hell did i want billiat at bucs? what i saw tonight definitely wasn't good from a player that i thought was going to be so influential. Mxm, looks like when players sign for flops, they forget about football and worships money. I see billiat only lasts for about 5 to 10 games, than the bench, the stands and ultimately year long loan deal. WHITE RED AND BLACK, TILL BILLAIT GET YEAR LONG LOAN.

As long as we have people who do not understand that in soccer when you play you may expect either of the three possiblities, viz. loss, win and a draw we will forever be frustrated. It really does not mean your players are stupid when they lose the game now and then. It simply means the team is experiencing reality and reality means one of the three possibilities. You cannot win all the games and surely you cannot draw or lose all the games. That is the beauty of the game we so love. Just be happy and celebrate while your team wins and be a gentleman/lady enough to accept defeat and draws in the same dignity. My team drew yesterday but lost to the wrong team on Saturday. Life goes on but come September 24 the Zebra will kick the Ghost. As for "BRAZILIANS" the less said with their signing philosophy the better.

You can be philosophical all you want but losing while playing twak will only be excepted at nazoorena, not mayfair. We go to stadiums to get our moneys worth. We support the team win or lose but we expects excitement even when lose. Its very cold at orlando stadium in winter at night. Your zebras played twak, finish en klaar. And you sounds like a stuck record now with this " come 24th sept this and that ". You will again be on the receiving end come that 2ndd leg, just you wait. Mxm, you will be walloped on saturday by ssp. WHITE RED AND BLACK, TILL THE 24TH OF SEPT
