Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzburg United draw 1-1

Posted: 3 April 2013 Time: 21:30

Maritzburg United held Kaizer Chiefs to a 1-1 draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night, but Amakhosi maintain their seven-point lead atop the standings.

Mario Booysen’s goal early in the second half threw the cat amongst the pigeons, but Mulumowandau Mathoho equalised with 20 minutes to go to ensure a share of the spoils.

Bernard Parker had an opportunity to put Chiefs ahead as early as the seventh minute from a free-kick, but his goal-bound effort was comfortably saved by Shu-aib Walters.

Itumeleng Khune was called into action in the 15th minute, parrying Heinrich Isaacks’ deflected shot when he switched direction to push away the goal-bound effort.

The Bafana Bafana captain again kept the scores level three minutes later with a spectacular save to keep out Ruben Cloete’s long-range effort.

Maritzburg took the lead just after the break when Chiefs failed to clear the ball from a set-piece and the ball rebounded off Morgan Gould and towards the goalline. As the defender tried to clear the ball it fell into the path of Booysen, who slotted home from close range.

With about 20 minutes remaining the league leaders levelled matters from a corner-kick – Mathoho rising highest to power home a header beyond the reach of a back-peddling Walters.

There were a few half-chances towards the end of the game - including Cuthbert Malajila just missing a cross for a sure goal - but the two sides settled for a point which not only maintains Chiefs’ seven-point lead (thanks to Orlando Pirates drawing away to AmaZulu), but also win the Q3 award.

When Mathoho told the toothless one 2 fukc off his back & later his father told Mudau & his light skin fellow 2 voetsek from his house gate, these rats went mad & 4 few weeks we had mad rats, they were throwing Mathoho with insults some of which I had never heard of b4...

That Manqele guy on the other hand succumbed 2 the pressure of Mudau & his light skin friend & signed, I suspect Mudau ran short of patience & gave Manqele a hot clap similar 2 the one he gave Bapela as soon as he realized that Manqela was stalling, given that his ambush mission in Limpopo went south.

Now fast forward and tell me if Mathoho made a good or bad move, & I bet its the former.

This playing of too many defenders at the same time reduces our chances to attackscore. We can do it when we play against big guns especially in their homeyard but against minnows like Maritsburg United i don't think it is necessary. I think its best we play 4 defenders and then add numbers up front to increase our scoring chances. Half a loaf is better than no bread anyway, especially when our competitors are also droping points. The sooner we wrap up this league the better especially when Pie-rats/dark horses Platinum Stars are drunk like this.

Chiefs is doing good only cos pirates is doing bad...talk about a "good\" team well u owe this to RDS if it wasn't 4 him...

SO YOU NOW SEE WHY PIRATES WAS WINNING ALL THE TIME? IT'S BECAUSE CHIEFS HAD V V , WHO ALSO MADE OUR TEAM (CHIEFS) WEAK. NOW YOU CAN FEEL HOW WE FELT THEN. BUT YOU MADE SUCH A BIG NOISE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON ABOUT YOUR DEPTH, WHERE IS IT NOW?
