Bafana Bafana managed to grab three points in their World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic by beating them 2-0 at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday evening.

A 33rd minute strike by Thabo Matlaba opened South Africa’s account, while a second half finish from Bernard Parker secure the win and their first ever win the Mother City.

In defence, the new central partnership between Morgan Gould and Thabo Nthethe was put to the test, while Tekolo Rantie and Bernard Parker were expected to produce the goals.

Despite the bullish start from the Central African Republic, the hosts were the one to create the first attack when Renielwe Letsholonyane supplied a ball into the box for Rantie.

The Malmo strike only has Geoffrey Lembet in goals to beat but it seemed as if the occasions got the better of him when he sliced his effort round the far post, six minutes in.

Four minutes later and Bafana Bafana threatened again, with a beautiful ball supplied by Dean Furman into the box, however, Rantie’s effort once again lacked the direction as his volley sailed over the cross bar.

CAR started to gain momentum 20 minutes into the fixture, and it was their talisman Foxi who forced Itumeleng Khune into making a fantastic save from his powerful strike 20-yards out.

In the build up to the game Igesund admitted he was pleased that all the areas in his line-up were able to find the back of the net and a goal once again from his backline.

This time it was Thabo Matlaba who supplied the moment of sheer brilliance, with a whipped ball which cleanly sailed into the top right corner to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage just after the half hour.

South Africa where then hit with a mighty blow, ten minutes later, when their midfield warrior Dean Furman had to be replaced by Kagisho Dikgacoi after suffering a blow to his eye.

CAR nearly pulled a goal back after the restart, when Josue Balamandji curled a set-piece into the box, which forced Khune to stretch out a hand and make the save.

Moments later and the visitors thought they had found themselves level when Balamandji put the ball into the back of the net; however, following a series of protestations by the hosts, the goal was rightly ruled out for handball.

Then Lembet was called into action for the Central African Republic, as he got a hand to May Mahlangu’s shot which bounced up and hit the crossbar, just after the hour mark.

Lady Luck seemed to favour the hosts on the evening, as they increased their lead to 2-0 with 20 minutes to go from a left footed strike by Bernard Parker, who just beat the offside calling.

South Africa did well to hold onto their 2-0 lead to take home the three points and move one step closer to qualifying for the 2014 Fifa World Cup.

But they could have scored a lot more goals had Tshabalala, Mahlangu and Rantie brought their scoring boots.

South Africa: Khune, Ngcongca, Nthethe, Gould, Matlaba, Furman (Dikacoi 44’), Letsholoyane, Mahlangu, Phala (Tshabalala 57’), Rantie (Manyisa 65’), Parker

Central African Republic: Lembet, Youga, Keita, E. Enza-Yamissi, Lignanzi (Mabide 52’), Balamandji, Foxi, Anzite, M. Enza-Yamissi (Kassai 83’), Manga (Momi 65’), Auzingoni Zimbori

Morgan is a goat!!!! Masende will regret dropping Khumalo. The less said about Shabba the better, what is he still doing in the national team? Rantie must cool down. He should have scored if he picked up the spot. Parker was bad first half as a winger. Better second half, good finish. Phala is a cow. It was nt a good game for May. Khune is being overpraised, he had an average game even dropping easy pickup balls. Yeye is off form even at chimps, Kagiso did nt show up, Nthethe had a fair game, nothing to write about Ngcongca as usual. Matlaba had an excellent game, I dint care what a sh!t the chimps say & very gud goal as well. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@so every one didn't play well except matlaba, let me tell u bro go and find another sport cause soccer wasn't meant for you, u cn try atleast golf caus it a one player sport bt soccer is a team sport so bafana won becaus our players they we're up fr there game so shut ur mouth if u dnt knw what to say *will upload a full match fr bafana vs car in youtube* so u beta download it an watch it again befor u came here and comment this kak

@masende.....those players you call cows have better accolades than any of those players i said should be discarded.remember jele was already part of the team before his horrific injury.as for klate how can u say he is acow.to me he is a victim of selection bias all these years hence poor results for bafana.how can a player who undisputably is at the centre of five league titles not be a regular.only in SA.for jali its just plain witchery for him not to make the squad.

Young man stop showing that you are indeed short of Masende as your name suggests, maybe Majoro should share some of his balls with you. Jele is an overrated cow getting away with rough tackles, Masilela went straight to Bafana camp after injury so is Morgan Gould, no excuse about his injury.

Klate is a COW and sound people knows it, he won league titles playing Skop and Doner with Zion FC then later won it with Gorillas in the same fashion, he is at same level with Mbooyane, Mayabela, Mabena and COWtrain that won the league titles.

Learn to respect your elders (myself) young man and you shall prosper.
