Burkina Faso and Nigeria drew 1-1 in a Africa Cup of Nations clash on Monday night.

Posted: 21 January 2013 Time: 22:02

Alain Traore stabbed in with the last kick of the game to give Burkina Faso a 1-1 draw against Nigeria in a Nations Cup clash on Monday night.

Emmanuel Emenike shot Nigeria in front in the first-half, as the Super Eagles looked in dominant control.

But they failed to kill the game off despite creating a multitude of chances. And when Efe Ambrose was sent off with 15 minutes to play, things took a dire turn.

Keshi threw on Kenneth Omeruo to steady his backline, and the Eagles looked like they would hold on for the point, but a rash decision to go for the killer goal late on left the Nigerian exposed, and Burkina Faso broke with extreme menace.

The Nigeria defence failed to clear the ball and the substitute, Traore arrived late to poke home from close-range, and break Nigeria hearts.

The result leaves Group C all square, after Zambia and Ethiopia also drew 1-1 earlier on in the day.

Futbol-aficionado, please stop this campaign about Siasia, that nay do well is not better than Keshi. The point is the players do not even believe in themselves. Look at Echejile, he was panting is if he was going to give up the ghost. Yobo was just an expired product on the pitch. Anybody can coach a Nigerian team it is just to be able to harness the abundant talents in this vast nation. I'm supporting this team out of patriotism. Ike Uche suddenly couldn't find his feet. if Musa could have invested just five minute of the time he wasted in doing his horrible hair into this game, the game would have been different. On the whole, the tournament is a set back for African football so far. Caf under the rogue Cameroonian Hayatou is dead and he is doing all he can to drag the continent's foremost competition to the grave in which Caf has been buried. I hope there will be a revival by the second round of games.

Keshi is a spoil joy. It goes beyond comprehension how there's a Moses on the bench and he's starting a Hammed Musa. Taking off Emenike when it should had been Ideye. Starting a Ogude instead of Onazi. His errors are numerous. I don't see us going far in this tournament anyway, thanks to Keshi and his absolutely hilarious team selection.

tactical naivety is what cost us 2 points. Well coached teams do not send half their team into the opponents area in the dying moments of the match while clinging to a one goal lead. Musa should know to hold the ball in the corner and allow the clock to run out instead he passes to Uche who promptly looses the ball to spring a counter attack against only 4 defenders! that is simply unforgiveable.

I can't help but to join issues with the slaves from voodoo land south africa. At least concede to us the fact we're your boss, look at this site, we're not afraid to do an indept analysis of our team. that is not to say that the team I saw today is anything near your toilet boys who were aimlessly going about the pitch as if they have just been freed from Botha's prison. You can come here because we tolerate you irritants and layabouts. By the way, I hope your rapist leader has gone to slaughter more cows at his shrine so that your bufunny bufunny can have Hayatou award you the cup in a forthnight?

Na wa, na wa. Like I said before now, there will be no surprises for me as far as this Afcon is concerned. I will rather continue to believe and believe, that's the only way to live longer than Keshi. No point analysing this game because it brings out so much, if onlies. But what's the point really in wishful thinking? As for all SE bashers, you now have something to wank off on but it will get better in subsequent matches. I know so because, I believe. Zambia? Hmmnnnn. I believe. SE will loose the chicken chip in them and soar on January 25th. I know cos, I believe.

thank God! Joseph Yobo,Fegor Ogude and Efe Ambrose are all out, to the rest of the players, please try as much as you can to avoid too much cards and to you mr. Keshi, if you hard no plans of using Moses, why going to south africa with him? Ahmed Musa played 90m. Moses can do better than that.

@oga, I thought you were one of those who kicked against Mikel been the captain ? I have said it countless times, a one-legged Onyekachi Apam is better than most of these crap defenders......especially Yobo. Mikel needs to be made captain asap, he is very composed and never panics. Ogude, Efe and Yobo were very poor. Ogude was tackling like a bulldog , Efe committed too many unecessary fouls while Yobo was shaking all through. Mikel made some superb passes both raking balls and spliiting passes but our strikers failed to take their chances. When Keshi substituted Emenike , i told a friend beside me that it was a wrong change.....huge tactical error, it was evident in Emenike's body language as he was going out. Uche missed a glorious chance after outwitting the defender. We need a better defence against Zambia......Yobo might be a disaster. Good-luck to my darling Super Eagles.

I stand by my comment and refuse to shift from my position on Siasia vs Keshi. When Siasia came in, he promised Nigerians a resurrection of Nigeria's well known brand of attacking football. Needless to say that he delivered. His team had a recognizable pattern-- I mean that one could tell when a goal is about to be made through the build -up of play. The current team has no pattern, is bereft of techniques, has no discernible wing play( another trademark of SE), lacks spine and is without flair which is the hall mark of Nigerian football. SE is known for entertainment football that produces victories. This team lacks all of these contrary to Siasia's team. Tactically, Siasia is ages ahead of Keshi as we have seen from the selection of players and all the substitutions Keshi made in this match. Besides, what has Keshi won in any serious FIFA sanctioned tournament. Go to the records and feel Siasia's pedigree on this count. So, the distinction between the two is absolute and screamingly obvious.

It is a foregone conclusion that Keshi goes after this championship. But, woe betide whoever hires a foreign coach for the Super Eagles. We will resist such shame. Siasia is more than capable to take us to the promised land. Guys like Amunike and Iroha can also assist in one way or the other.

Nigerians should be saved this heart attack football which was almost gone in Siasia's era!

Thank you.

African referees are bunch of disgrace. The ref wanted Nigeria to lose at all cost. Where are the commentators from ??? They wanted Nigeria to lose at all cost as well. They celebrated Burkina faso equalizer more than the scorer himself.

"we must give good account\" + Mediocre team = first round exit. It is shame to see how they gave away a last minute goal. Oboabona literally served Alain traore the ball to score. Keshi electing to sub Emenike instead of Ideye that was hugging the ball. Starting Ambrose ahead of Omeruo//////? Starting Ogude ahead of Obiora..........? Leaving players with yellow cards too long in the field knowing that they are red card risk. I can't wait for this stupid, egostitical country Nigeria to be knocked out in the first round. SHAME! SHAME!!
