Burkina Faso and Nigeria drew 1-1 in a Africa Cup of Nations clash on Monday night.

Posted: 21 January 2013 Time: 22:02

Alain Traore stabbed in with the last kick of the game to give Burkina Faso a 1-1 draw against Nigeria in a Nations Cup clash on Monday night.

Emmanuel Emenike shot Nigeria in front in the first-half, as the Super Eagles looked in dominant control.

But they failed to kill the game off despite creating a multitude of chances. And when Efe Ambrose was sent off with 15 minutes to play, things took a dire turn.

Keshi threw on Kenneth Omeruo to steady his backline, and the Eagles looked like they would hold on for the point, but a rash decision to go for the killer goal late on left the Nigerian exposed, and Burkina Faso broke with extreme menace.

The Nigeria defence failed to clear the ball and the substitute, Traore arrived late to poke home from close-range, and break Nigeria hearts.

The result leaves Group C all square, after Zambia and Ethiopia also drew 1-1 earlier on in the day.

@Oga, thumbs up!!.. good observations you made.
Yobo is weak, he has served 9ja so well, its time to bow n leave.
Ike Uche suddenly lost his feet today, but I believe he will be ok by next game.

@Futbol-Aficionado, stop this your nonsense campaign for Siasia because its beginning to irritate some of us here, for now Keshi is in charge and we want him to succeed and he will succeed.

What a scrapy game. There is one thing common between Bafana Bafana n the Super Eagles n that is disapointment with the capital D. It's not gonna be easy going foward for Nigeria. I just hope they just don't regret leaving out key players such as Odemingwe etc.

It's so sad to see a giant falling like this. Gone are those days when u know for sure that if u face Nigeria you'll sweat your but off. This country has lost its football identity which was patient build ups from the back with a skill n determination. I really don't know what they're doing anymore. It'll be a miracles for them to make it to the next round.

You know it's so sad that Chiefs fans defend that garbage called Bafana while Nigerians and Zambians echo our sentiments as Orlando Pirates soldiers. For months we have been saying mediocrity is being shoved down our throats and an embarrassment was eminent. For months we have been insulted and called unpatriotic some going to the extent of saying we know nothing about football. For months we have been complaining that you can't recycle failures who fail to qualify for tournaments and expect us normal thinking people to rally behind such hogwash in the name of patriotism.

Hate the Nigerians all you want but they speak facts. And another fact is this is how the rest of Africa sees us. This is how the rest of the world sees us after that embarrassing exit. If only they knew we are still paying for that opening goal that achieved nothing. For how long have we been saying its delusional for people to even think they can survive the group stages with a bunch of players that can't even win the domestic title.

Zebras open your eyes and see what image your players have created of us. Open your eyes and realize that those losers you so vigorously defend have done nothing but make us the laughing stock of Azania. If only the rest of the Africa knew how yesterday these idiots were writing essays defending that pathetic performance on Saturday. It's infortunate Africa views our team as Bafana Bafana and not Bafana BaChiefs which is what it really is.

Where is The Phefeni Boy, Gucci Man and the rest of that choir that defends mediocrity with their lives to take on the rest of Africa. They will not come out because they will look ridiculous defending garbage

Keshi, as u no sabi select a winning team , make i select for you.
1 Enyema, 2 Egwueke,3 Echiejile, 4 Omeruo, 5 Yobo, 6 Nosa, 7 Moses, 8 Mikel, 9 Emenike,10 Ideye, 11Musa.
Sub: Onazi, Ike Uche Ejike.
For goodness sake use two wingers and play 4-4-2.
If you have the courage, drop even Yobo to the bench.

Nigeria, like South Africa, aint what they think they are on international stage.

Mikel was good, but he was playing too much long balls and it was easy for the opponent to figure it out and most of the Super Eagles balls were given away like that. He should play with his midfield and try creating a goal from midfield and not only long balls. Ambrose should not have started. Omeruo is better.

El Sol the vagabondo....

Ok you've made your modus vivendi clear to all... but is it necessary to display to the public the very same soiled underwear you use to brush your teeth with...

Is this why you babble like a primitive dinosaur-hunting cave man...? Do you still dig around for worms to snack with...?

Do you regret your days as a transvestite...? did that "kwerekwere" leave a lasting reminder in your a$$hole...? Is the "blackhole" widened...?

In your deposition you come across as very hurt... were your dreams shattered as the last crumb in your spaza shop was eaten by a rat last week as these "makwerekwere" have taken you to the days of you being a sloth, asking for sugar next door... is this why you're so indignant...?

El Sol your right my laittie I have no business meddling in your stupidity... but your anachronistic, like a typical numb-minded African you're fascinated by Spanish things that have nothing to do with you, someone needs to tell you that your Kaffir characteristics & you're puerility are misplaced in time mfanaka...

@toklins221, Mikel played both long and short passes. He played two defence-splitting-passes in the second half which flat-footed-Idaye didn't capitalise on. It was rather Ogude who distorted the efforts Mikel and Igiabor. I don't really like Keshi's style but to be fair, the SE played well. Only blind people will predict Nigeria early exit. I hope Keshi has learnt from his tactical errors and wrong line-up. Up Super Eagles anyway.

@Lord vinny (Trebl maniac) i totaly agree with you, am not a Pirates supporter but they were suppose to be dominating in our national team, they are a bunch of winners. Chiefs players what have they won? Nothing, they can't pass even first round in our domestic cups but that stupid coach selected those bunch of losers. His mission to embarrass us has succeeded, look now we are being laughed by everyone. Am sure this coach hates Pirates because of that incident where supporters attacked him, and it was because of his stupidity. Yes Teko Modise has been given all kind of names but the truth must be told, he is the best play maker in SA and for me even Steve Pienaar can't not even come close. When Gordon said he is not going to select best players but best team i realised then that its finished. Nigeria played draw but they are way and far better than us, Here in South African people love mediocrity and i respected you mfethu when you made example with our current president, are we suppose to accept really all these embarrassment, all his stupid changes like in our education. Corruption in Africa has become a religion, look at the most supported team in SA chiefs, how many cups they have won through referees favors and worse their MD Bobby he attending fraud cases and then their supporters will come start bragging about their stolen cups and their players dominating the national team, its annoying really

Birds of a feather.

I wonder how people rate matches these days, maybe out of sentiments. I watched a Nigerian team with the determination that i have not seen some years back. I watched a Nigerian team that was more discipline than what I used to see for some years.
Now to the low points..... Enyeama is still not my no 1. Ejide would have punched that Burkinabe goal.He is more composed between the sticks. Keshi, was not a striker and he is finding it difficult to organise his strikers in the box. Siasia would have been a better assistant than the dummy, fashion designer..Amokachi.
Omeruo is more intelligent and tactical than Efe, No wonder he was given the red card.
Keshi should be more tactful than the panic changes he made yesterday.IT WAS WRONG TO REPLACE EMENIKE who was his tormentor in chief because he was not looking tired. A combination of Ike Uche and Emenike i think should have been better. He should have also told his players to be passing the ball around in the dine minute to frustrate his opponent rather than kicking the the ball aimlessly to the opponent area who came back with more pressure...definitely it was a matter of time before the defense caved in.
