Burkina Faso and Nigeria drew 1-1 in a Africa Cup of Nations clash on Monday night.

Posted: 21 January 2013 Time: 22:02

Alain Traore stabbed in with the last kick of the game to give Burkina Faso a 1-1 draw against Nigeria in a Nations Cup clash on Monday night.

Emmanuel Emenike shot Nigeria in front in the first-half, as the Super Eagles looked in dominant control.

But they failed to kill the game off despite creating a multitude of chances. And when Efe Ambrose was sent off with 15 minutes to play, things took a dire turn.

Keshi threw on Kenneth Omeruo to steady his backline, and the Eagles looked like they would hold on for the point, but a rash decision to go for the killer goal late on left the Nigerian exposed, and Burkina Faso broke with extreme menace.

The Nigeria defence failed to clear the ball and the substitute, Traore arrived late to poke home from close-range, and break Nigeria hearts.

The result leaves Group C all square, after Zambia and Ethiopia also drew 1-1 earlier on in the day.

Keshi should be blamed for this... He has the materials but his subtitutions were in error...why removing emenike? Ike should be told in clear terms to stop playing adolescents style of football... Yobo caused that equalising goal by not being dirty at that stage of the game....

Where is that chump named Good Luck from Naija who came here and insulted us? Maybe he'll understand me in his Ibo language when I say, "Kompa meni me doshon se waka nibe." Translation: "Ziveze wena mgodoyi ndini sikuhlaze!"

Back to the game. Oh, what a bore. But as the coaches have said, the first two opening games were far more of a deploring site to stomach. However, I still say this Nigerian generation has become weak but at least I saw a lot of team work and less individualism from the Naija players. Now I know why Keshi left Odemwingie aka 'Twitter Gangster' and crew behind.

Burkina Faso, wow. They have that Never-Say-Die attitude which is synonamous with Ezimnyama Ngenkani. I applaud them for that performance and maybe they could go as far as the quarters. They made Nigeria sweat.

Up The Bucs...

I think the referee was the man of the match... I am not sure he has not been influenced...
Keshi has rhe greater fault, Yobo next and Ike uche who couldn't play with the team...
But I am bitter that such officiating still exists. It was like watching Manchester United with Howard Webb at the centre... He practically showed some francophone's bias... But the biggest blame should go to our team...

What these SA moegoes dont realize is that zambia and nigeria actually SCORED. Banyana banyana on the other hand were on the pitch to HIDE according to their own coach. They blamed nerves. Idiots!!! And they have the temerity to dream of winning the cup. Good heavens have mercy! It is this 30% pass mark you people have that makes you all mad

@Anonymous, the ref was bad to Zambia too. Mbesuma had his shirt pulled and every striker gets a penalty for that bad that Gabonese ref gave Mbesuma a yellow card.. This is one reason why Africa refs never make it to officiate for the world cup because of stupidity like that. African refs are horible period. I did not watch the Nigeria game because of work, but if the ref was biased against you guys, then I hear you. Good luck against us on friday, you will really need it.

I don't think Naija played that badly...

I saw a very disciplined Nigerian team... well organized, direct, and the commitment was there... they were just got unstuck by the humidity, even Keshi was sweating....

Yes the days of bo Jay Jay are gone but that is due to players allowing themselves to lose thier roots.... eg.. Chelsea transformed & completely destroyed Mikel Obi he is now a full-blown robot compared to the u/20 World Cup days...

Europe with its A-licenses & tactical nonsense is killing our Africaness... Neo-Colonialism...

I would have secure that only goal after the red card if i was the coach with 4-4-1 formation.Thats what i thought keshi was going to do but he lack the knowledge. It was just few minutes to go.What a coach. However, this match has been played before now and you all will remember my dream soon.

I still have a dream which i will reveal later but the earlier we realize we dont have a coach and stop bragging the better.@Futbol-Aficionado,YES,Siasia would have done better than this big mouth coach.
