Sundowns leave it late against Ezenkosi

Posted: 7 May 2008 Time: 17:31

Bryan Aldave’s last minute strike handed Mamelodi Sundowns a 1-0 win over Jomo Cosmos in their Absa Premiership clash at the Orkney Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Cosmos made most of the early running with Bonginkosi Macala shooting high over Brian Baloyi’s crossbar from just outside the area in the fifth minute.

Sundowns imposed themselves on the game midway through the half and won a succession of corners, but failed to capitalise on their dominance.

Ezenkosi almost took the lead in the 41st minute, but Thapelo Tshilo’s fierce shot from the edge of the area flew straight at Baloyi.

A minute later, it was the visitors who threatened, with Lerato Chabangu shooting just wide from inside the area.

The match remained goalless at the break, with Cosmos looking the better side after the restart.

However, despite all their dominance in the opening stages, they failed to create any real clear-cut opportunities.

Sundowns almost broke the deadlock in the 64th minute, when Peter Ndlovu rose highest to meet Chabangu’s cross, but the striker’s header was comfortably saved by Avril Phali.

An inspired substitution by Trott Moloto saw Aldave replacing Ndlovu seconds from the end, with the match looking destined for a draw, but with seconds left, the Uruguayan ran onto a pass from Surprise Moriri to slot home from inside the area to hand Sundowns the points.

Mpho, Torealba will be very disappointed when he finds that he won't play in Top 8 cup!!!
And that is what killing our Mzansi soccer, to sign a player for specific team. I believe you also complaining about expensive bread, can you remember those breads you left them stranded at Absa stadium and at Loftus? Shapa bafana be style shapaaa!!!!

Torealba scored goals because he was getting supply from Sapula, Moriri, Sheppard, Dladla and also from Nyandoro, who's going to provide that supply at Chiefs? Unless of course you sign Papi Zothwane, you still have a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way to go.

I have nothing against Chiefs by the way

Mawethu Torealba was good at Sundowns and it will remain that way. Do not expect the same perfomance as the players who complemented him are still at Sundowns. NOTE: He takes at least a season to settle!!

Who needs torrealba when you have aldave benitez? Why are you guys so excited about the derby that will end in a draw? The reason why Chiefs fans hate Sundowns so much and have colluded with PIRATES FANS is because SUNDOWNS is a threat to their brand. The SKY is the limit and the STYLE is our benchmark. Ayeye!!!

chiefs won three games in succesion but everyone was talking abt them that the are back to bully other teams.but sundowns beat 12 teams in succesion.silent is maintained.we beat amazulu 1-0 in the nedbank they said sundowns sneak through.is amazulu not a psl side.they like it when we are losing,i can tell u guys we will beat every team that plays us now.bcos we are on business now,the always compare us with chiefs that we r battling to be on top eighty whjat a dissappointing year for sundowns.whereas we won top8,telkom runners up,nedbank finalists and we are third on the log.what a shame on those who dont recognise big team
