Bafana Bafana beat Kenya in international friendly

Posted: 16 October 2012 Time: 19:55

It took an own-goal to secure victory, but Bafana Bafana eventually got the job done against a plucky Kenyan side in an international friendly in Nairobi.

CLICK HERE for a gallery of the action

The South Africans led at the break through Tokelo Rantie, but Kenya equalised from the spot through Dennis Oliech. However, an own-goal from Christopher Wekesa proved the decisive moment of the match.

Bafana should have been two goals to the good before the opening goal, with Siphiwe Tshabalala missing a sitter from six yards out, before Rantie skewed a drive wide when ‘Shabba’ partially cleared cross fell at his feet on the edge of the area.

However, the Swedish-based striker made no mistake on 20 minutes, expertly finishing past goalkeeper Origi after a great pass from Lerato Chabangu.

Nine minute later and Rantie almost had another – his clever take from a throw-in saw him beat one defender, but his shot was straight at the Kenyan number one.

Rantie had another chance on 38 minutes, but his long-range header lacked the pace to trouble the goalkeeper.

Kenya thought they had a penalty just before the break when their striker went down under a challenge from Siyabonga Sangweni, but the referee adjudged it a dive instead and booked the player for simulation.

Bafana were forced into an early change when Sifiso Myeni came on for a ‘dizzy’ Tshabalala at the start of the second half – a half which was very scrappy to start with an lacked the intensity of the first 45.

The first real chance came on the hour-mark when Dino Ndlovu, who had just come on for Tokelo Rantie, hit the post from close-range after a goalmouth scramble from Ricardo Nunes’ corner-kick.

Two minutes later and Dean Furman was at the end of a nice build-up, but his shot from the edge of the area hardly troubled the goalie.

Then, on 72 minutes, Kenya equalised from the penalty spot through Dennis Oliech, who converted after Bongani Khumalo was blown up for hand-ball.

However, the lead lasted but three minutes as Kenyan centre-back Christopher Wekesa headed into his own net from Bernard Parker’s ball across the face of goal.

The hosts pushed hard for an equaliser, with substitute Orito missing a free header with 10 minutes to go, while Bafana had a lucky escape when Wayne Sandilands flapped at the ball, but it went out for a goal-kick instead.

Kenya starting XI: Origi, Asike, Kokoyo, Mandela, Wekesa, Wanyama, Osiako, Opiyo, Kahata, Oliech, Kemboi

Subs used: Wafula, Timbe, Monday, Arita, Situma

SA starting XI: Sandilands, Nthethe, Sangweni, Khumalo, Nunes, Chabangu, Furman, Dikgacoi, Tshabalala, Parker, Rantie

Subs used: Myeni, Ndlovu, Manyisa, Fransman

But Parker is a real cow though

That cow is currently the leading goal scorer in PSL .

He has score 9 goals . If Parker is a cow then Ndumiso Mabena,Bongani Ndulula , Collins Nyofonyofo Mbesumba,Bunny Mcflury ,Takesure Chinyama............manure

Even now Parker is a cow. Siyabonga Sangweni proved it last year when he scored more goals than him in all competitions. Lucky Lekgwathi proved it last season when he scored more goals than him in all competitions. Benni, Ndulula, Jele, proved it. This season Parcow has played more games than all of our strikers combined so how can you compare them with. Him at this stage of the season?! You are pathetic. The season is far from over. The goal scoring charts will change boy.

Cowjoro would show off his "I got balls" t-shirt when he scored. Parcow shows off his "I got panties" t-shirt when he taps them in

Oupa and Moneeb must just retire from internatiobal football....whats the point?

I was also disappointed by the following.

Nyawana as usual.

Gordon's insistant on playing players in the wrong positions. I felt sorry for Ntethe who was purposefully misplaced. This cruel tendancy takes away a genuine chance from players to compete on their competent position. I must stop now.

Our Midfield pair, they failed to control the game like in the previous games they got dominated. What was even more sad is that they played like pre-school kids. They both drifted to the left where most of the ball was played during the 2nd half. No one spread passes to the right. the fact that I have mentioned above about Ntethe made thing worse for Gordon's 11 to attack on the right where Myeni operated. To make things worse Dino, Shabangu & Parker all joined into the rush to congest BB's left. Myeni kept on calling for the ball but hardly got it. When he did, he had no support of was covering for Ntethe where he will pass it to Parker who once in a while went to the right. But He will loose it again as there was not support from our overated duo of KG & Foolman. Gordon stood by & never discouraged this preschool soccer.

Nunes is a liability that must never be called back. If Gorgon Masende does, this affirmative selectee will be booed by the fans during the AFCON which will be the worse ever expirience he will ever have in his underachieving life.

etc....

Who's fault is that ?
However he(Parker) still a leading gaolscorer even if you include all the goals scored by Ndulula,Mabena,Chinyama,Bester,Mcflurry,Mbesuma,Mbuyane ,Segoelela,Jali and Sifiso Myeni in their trainning sessions this season @ Cowfair .
It doesn't make any difference becuase once you're a Gorilla you'll always be Gorilla

Panty Fc have no excuses. Yeye, Cowthoho, Cowrge Lebese didn't play at all tonight. Parcow played in 2nd half at least (I think). Nyawana the Kenyan attacking midfielder played in the 1st half but was substituted due to dizziness. So all their dried fruit fresh for selection on Friday. No excuses!

I am not complaining though. All I'm saying is that you're quite desperate. Just like you celebrated that own goal as if Mr Tap-In scored it himself. All I'm saying is that my strikers are not out. They will catch up. Even Sangweni and Jele will catch up with Parcow just as they did last season hehehehe. I saw Parcow tripping himself with the ball at his feet this evening tl tl tl

I would like to urge & reiterate the call by King to all Champs, "don't waste your hard earned money on BBduring AFCON. Stay at home. Our money can be better used somewhere else like buying school uniforms for our kids, buying (not stealing at Woolworths like others) our ladies something sexy, etc.

Gordon's 11 showed today that they will making us a laughing stock in Jan. A proud & patriotic man will never let himself be humiliated in front of his family, nation, Africa & the world during the AFCON games.

I'm starting to doubt your football knowledge if you start saying such lousy comments . I mean really do you really think Sangweni,Jele will catch up , while all your strikers are struggling and wobbling .

I always wondered why G.I kept on selecting Oupa(mazinyo) Manyisa despite his recent poor form.

Bt tonight I got all the answers we need guys like Oupa for time wasting tactics many thanks to the lad. My advice to Oupa is to keeping working hard on time wasting tactics. Credit must also go to him.

Zebra I remain till Sangweni stops bunking ABET classes.
