PSL match report: University of Pretoria vs Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 18 May 2013 Time: 16:52

Thabo Mosadi scored to hand University of Pretoria a win over Kaizer Chiefs, who will receive the Premiership trophy after the match in a few minutes.

Amakhosi had a blistering start, and the better of the chances in the first half, but Kingston Nkhatha was woeful in front of goal.

The first real chance fell to AmaTuks in the 11th minute, when Aubrey Ngoma broke free down the left and fed Mame Niang in the box, but the Senegalese appeared clueless as he was surrounded by a few Chiefs defenders, and he lost possession as Chiefs cleared the danger.

In the 15th minute, Chiefs had their chance as Siphiwe Tshabalala put in a cross that hit a Tuks defender and fell into Nkhatha's path but he shot high.

10 minutes later, the Zimbabwean striker was put through on goal by Bernard Parker. Again, he could not capitalise and tried to slide the ball past his countryman Washington Arubi, but the latter was equal to the task.

In the 32nd minute, Nkhatha once again had a chance to score and again he failed in his attempt.

Tshabalala played a great cross in but the former Black Leopards striker mistimed his attempt, despite having acres of space, much to Josta Dladla's dismay. 'JD' appeared to confront Nkhatha for missing yet another chance.

On the stroke of half-time, Dladla had a penalty appeal, claiming to have been pushed, but it was turned down by referee Thando Nzandzeka.

The score at half-time was 0-0.

After the break, Nkhatha had the ball in the net but he was flagged offside.

The frustration was telling on the marksman's face and he was shortly given a yellow card for a foul.

AmaTuks took the lead in the 59th minute when substitute Thabo Mosadi beat the Chiefs defenders for pace to score past Itumeleng Khune.

In the 75th minute, Aubrey Ngoma outpaced Keegan Ritchie in a counter-attack situation, but Khune came off his line to make a block.

Barely five minutes later, Khune had to save Chiefs again as he blocked Ayanda Lubelo's attempt in a one-on-one situation after the latter was put through.

Towards the end, Kaizer Motaung Jnr replaced Tshabalala, who was forced off through injury. Motaung Jnr almost made an immediate impact but his overhead kick was saved by Arubi, and the match finished 1-0.

If it was not for RDS, Pirates wud be crowned champions today. Everyone can see that Chiefs can't handle pressure towards the end of the season. Pirates gave the league away the couch is useless and cluess. Enjoy while it still last KC fans... Should Dr. Khoza hire a better coach for us, we are going to take another treble next season! Crus

It is painful to see how much rats faithfools are hurting. They are saying all stupid things here instead of commenting at their article. Comeon Khosis I beg you give Nkhatha a break. He is trying. They same player we booing got us goals. And he hussled for us. He is the reason Parker scored a lot of goals. He hussle defenders. When the coached started benching him the goals dried up. Check the facts.

Heheheheheheheheheheheeheh............Ja ne ! Some Chibuku FC fans are realy traumatized. They just can't accept the reality that Kaizer Chiefs were way better than their useless team this season.

For crying out loud Chiefs won the lig with two games to spare and scored the highest number of goals and conceded the least. Now if that alone is still not good enough to convince even a deranged dagga smoker nothing will.

Let's face it Makhosi our boys were poor today. Maybe it was due to the fact that the boys had nothing to play for.

But I really blame our technical team for the loss. This is one game where the fringe players should have made the majority of the line up. There was no need to play exhausted players like Shabba and Parker and even risk injuries.

khune should have been rested as we saw how good KHuzwayo is. This match was a perfect opportunity to let the other players sho what they can do under an official game. Baloyi should have started in the place of Katsande and Moleko/ Tau in the place of Gaxa.

im not happy with how the team played,Nkhatha is not Chiefs material, playing for a team of Chiefs calibre, you dont miss clear cut chances like that. However i cant blame the coach and Doctor for not fielding fringe players,it was evident that they are trying to build combinations for the Nedbank Cup Final. For next season please promote Andile Etoó Nqabeni , and Itumeleng Scara Mashobane ,get rid of Nkhatha ,Josta Dladla,Svaziya ,Motaung Junior and Masango, and again i think renewing Letsholonyane 's contract by 3 years was a mistake, these older players deserves only 1 year extensions ,lately letsholonyane wasnt perfoming well ,what if he doesnt regain his old form? And again Kaizer must hire an Assistant coach,Doctor played his part (making Baxter settle as he is new to the PSL and explaining how the oppositions play),a former player in the EPL to help Baxter with tactics

Now that the season is done and dusted Makhosi it is time to take stock of the situation. It is good to take stock when you have had a good season than when things went haywire like at Chibuku FC.

Makhosi Mina I really believe that we need to bolster our squad with about 6 players if need to win the lig for the next two seasons.

I think we must get rid of the following players; ( in order of their uselessness)

1. Mandla Masango
2. Siboniso Gaxa
3. Kingston Nkhata
4. George Lebese
5. Lincoln Zvasiya
6. Josta Dladla
7. Sthembiso Ngcobo

I know a lot of players who don't have a good analysis of the game of football will differ with me on George Lebese. Many people think this boy is good but i think the boy is very useless. I have never seen him give an all round match winning performance. He plays in patches and even if he has a decent game today you can rest assured he will be horrible the next weekend.

I am happy that most Chiefs fans agree that Nkhatha is a very useless player. I have said from day 1 that this guy is worse than a horse cart. How can you have at his level a so-called striker that can't control the ball. Most of his passings go astray. He can't dribble, he can't position himself. The only thing that this guy does well is hustle the defenders and that's all. But in modern football a striker with such limited liabilities is a waste of space.
