Kaizer Chiefs and Platinum Stars draw 0-0

Posted: 28 April 2013 Time: 16:53

The highly-anticipated top-of-the-table clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Platinum Stars failed to deliver as the two sides played out to a goalless draw.

Still, it's a point that takes Amakhosi ever closer to a first title since 2004/05 - they remain six points clear of second-placed Dikwena with just three matches remaining.

However, if third-placed Orlando Pirates win their game in hand the lead will be cut to just four points.

Chiefs started the brighter and had two early chances through Siphiwe Tshabalala and Bernard Parker, but both shot wide.

But Stars have been playing some amazing football this season and almost scored a goal to match when Henrico Botes attempted a cheeky back-heel which came back off the woodwork.

Parker then headed wide for Tshabalala’s corner-kick before Kingston Nkhatha squandered a glorious opportunity when put through one-on-one with Siya Mpontshane.

Stars hit the woodwork again just before the break when Benson Mhlongo followed up after Brilliant Khuzwayo – deputising for the suspended Itumeleng Khune – did well to parry Mogakolodi Ngele’s free-kick.

The young goalkeeper was having a game to remember, producing a brilliant save from Mhlongo’s close-range header.

Chiefs had a few opportunities towards the end of the match as first substitute Matthew Rusike was denied by Mpontshane, before Siboniso Gaxa fired across the face of goal in the dying minutes.

Chiefs next face struggling Ajax in Cape Town on Wednesday, while Stars host Maritzburg United in Rustenburg.

We are not saying the coach is bad
We are not saying Lebese is a cow
We are not giving up on the boys....HELL to the NO
We are not saying Pirates is a threat to us
We are not panicking.

We are simply pointing out the mistakes made by our coach on this game.
We are not robots we live and love this game ...there was just no excuse to leave Yeye on the bench for this game....with or without Mfiki or Mfinyi....this game needed Yeye or Baloyi...what if our next game has Mfinyi as a referee?

Even Sis Ferguson gets his tactics wrong at times and he does admit.

We believe Sir Baxter will rectify his mistakes against Ajax

There is no player who deserves to be on the field for 90min when he is playing rubbish wherther is Nkosi or Lebese....

If it was not for parker's decision making in that clear chance we could have won but things like that happen in football he was just unlucky,
Secondly chiefs did not need to play as if its their last game, the draw was enough(my opinion).

Last but not least, the couch knows what he's doing. I would love to give him that respect.
For Pirats you can't tell me about draws, you ask that nonsense again I'll ask how many wins you got and how many you've lost.

Stuart Baxter got it all wrong today he shouldve played both Yeye and Nkosi and bring on Lebese in the 2nd half when the Platinum stars players r worn out.
Lebese is not a cow, VV played now Baxter is playing him so there must be something special about him, and Nkhatha i like his attitude and his got a big engine him and Parker have this special understanding, mara Major should play on Wednesday this Rusike guy was not suppose to play vandag bayafana nje noLebese mos

To all of you stupid Pirates fans do you realize that you are hanging to dear life by a thread ? If you draw against Chippa UTD, which is very very likely and Chiefs win against Ajax the lig race will be officially over ?
