Kaizer Chiefs and Platinum Stars draw 0-0

Posted: 28 April 2013 Time: 16:53

The highly-anticipated top-of-the-table clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Platinum Stars failed to deliver as the two sides played out to a goalless draw.

Still, it's a point that takes Amakhosi ever closer to a first title since 2004/05 - they remain six points clear of second-placed Dikwena with just three matches remaining.

However, if third-placed Orlando Pirates win their game in hand the lead will be cut to just four points.

Chiefs started the brighter and had two early chances through Siphiwe Tshabalala and Bernard Parker, but both shot wide.

But Stars have been playing some amazing football this season and almost scored a goal to match when Henrico Botes attempted a cheeky back-heel which came back off the woodwork.

Parker then headed wide for Tshabalala’s corner-kick before Kingston Nkhatha squandered a glorious opportunity when put through one-on-one with Siya Mpontshane.

Stars hit the woodwork again just before the break when Benson Mhlongo followed up after Brilliant Khuzwayo – deputising for the suspended Itumeleng Khune – did well to parry Mogakolodi Ngele’s free-kick.

The young goalkeeper was having a game to remember, producing a brilliant save from Mhlongo’s close-range header.

Chiefs had a few opportunities towards the end of the match as first substitute Matthew Rusike was denied by Mpontshane, before Siboniso Gaxa fired across the face of goal in the dying minutes.

Chiefs next face struggling Ajax in Cape Town on Wednesday, while Stars host Maritzburg United in Rustenburg.

A draw is not bad
Two changes were needed in this game, Yeye for Nkosi & Dladla for Lebese.
Parker was tired coz he was running around searching for the ball, Nkosi played well in the past two games but in the 2nd he was a bit flat hence Yeye's engine and vision were needed

Everbody Thinks That the Football Team they Support is the Best One, But Some Teams Have a Better Claim than Others. Kaizer Chiefs has won the League Championship Title 9 Times and Other 53 Titles in 43 years of Khosination Life. Still the Flight Boeing 747 is in the Right Direction to Naturena Village. Chiefs have a bad record against Ajax in Cape Town,Supersport is our hoodoo team together with Tuks, its evident that Doctor is a " yes sir " kind of a person,he should have adviced the coach to field Yeye and majoro, even in the last 10 minutes of the game

Nothing has changed ,we still on top ,still unbeaten this year!

The game itself was very entertaining In the first half ,we should have scored two goals ,parker was selfish and Nkatha was just unlucky!
I really thought we needed Majoro or atleast Ncobo in the second half ,Rusike was seeing flames but he got one chance that he was unlucky not to score, Katsande ,mathoho and Khuzwayo played well

The ref was fair, this teams fails to flourish in the absent of external forces. Chimps catalyst this season has been the external dark forces.

@ OPFC, we don't retreat and we don't surrender.

Rusike was coming back from injury why was he preffered ahead of Dladla?
Why was Lebese not sacrified for Yeye, Parker redeployed on the left wing and Shabba on the right with Nkosi behind Nkatha?

Our coach got his tactics wrong for this game....

A draw is not a bad results but I consider it a loss for our team

BAXTER why, why, why persist with LEBESE he hasnt play well since coming from the injury, like i said i wish u can pay back the coach for the confidence he has in u by winjing us games and do wat u used to do before the injury please...damn cant believe our coach played for a draw clearly he is scared of PLATINUM STARS, one sub out of possible 3? Why are u doing this to us, why coach...honestly we cant beat SSU!!!! Now we have to playnthe NEDBANK we more pressure on us i hoped we could do it relaxed cos it was going to be easy for us to win it...now BAXTER just go to finals but make sure u dont lose the lig...GORILLAS are ready with their black and white envelopes to buy the remaining games!!!!

It is a vital point indeed, and it's much better to be leading than to try and catchup. 2 draws and 1 win put us 62 points. We have only lost once this season and I don't see us loosing to any of the remaining teams in the next 3 games..
