Bloemfontein Celtic beat Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday night

Posted: 27 April 2013 Time: 22:15

Ruzaigh Gamildien capitalised on a defensive mix-up to hand Bloemfontein Celtic a 1-0 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in a Premiership encounter at Pilditch Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Free State outfit left Tshwane with all three points despite defending for the majority of the game.

Both sides were clearly on the offensive from the start as they looked to grab a quick goal and give themselves an early advantage in the crucial clash.

It was Sundowns, though, who were the only ones to maintain pressure for the remainder of the tie.

Elias Pelembe and Jabulani Shongwe went the closest for the hosts in the early exchanges.

First the Mozambican winger managed to get on the end of a cross from Tebogo Langerman in the 14th minute, but the former SuperSport United man only managed to blaze his effort wide of Patrick Tignyemb’s left hand post.

Shongwe then had a chance in the 22nd minute. Nyasha Mushekwi played the ball into the path of Shongwe, who was in acres of space inside the area, but the midfielder seemed to have too much time and totally miscued his resulting effort.

Despite the home side dominating and creating chance after chance, it was the away side who opened the scoring, completely against the run of play.

Gamildien tapped into an empty net in the 38th minute after Wanye Sandilands and Alje Schut clashed in the area. The Siwelele midfielder punished the veteran duo to bag his third goal of the campaign.

The home side dominated the first half but the likes of Langerman, Pelembe, Henyekane and especially Shongwe were unable to take their chances. Celtic capitalised on the chance handed to them by the Brazilians and as a result it was them who went into the break a goal to the good.

The second stanza started off slowly as Phunya Sele Sele sat back and seemed happy to guard their one goal advantage.

Sundowns were struggling to break down the stubborn Celtic defence and as a result Pitso Mosimane brought Katlego Mphela, Edward Manqele and Eleazar Rodgers into the fold as he desperately went in search of the equaliser in the final 15 minutes of the clash.

Edward Manqele and Hlompho Kekana went close for the home side in the 78th minute. The former Free State Stars man beat Tignyemb but his effort was cleared off the line by John Arwuah, before Kekana forced a good save out of the Cameroonian shot stopper.

Despite having four strikers on the pitch for the final exchanges of the encounter, Sundowns were unable to find the back of the net and as a result suffered their ninth loss of the season.

This is one team that need "wholesale" changes, I mean its got everything but it achieves so less. It reminds me of all spoiled brats at school with all sorts of information guides including expensive study guides but came out with fails.

Maybe they don't have enough hunger just to put Downs Up, maybe they need new fresh unknows to build up something and their rates be reduced. Money can sometime get into one's mind if its too much

At Bafana when he was drawing he blamed the witch doctor, now at sundowns witches wishes I following him. He said that( not in the exact words). He started well after taking over from Neskeens but now just like in Bafana when he was preaching 2014, now at downs he is still preaching 2014(next season)

I guess Marabastad FC are still building 4 next season...

Face facts gents, u don't have a coach. Your arrogant Prima donnas u call players got rid of Neeskens nd u xpect Pitso who is clueless to get anything out of them? Some tough decisions need 2 be made @ Chloorkp nd it starts with u guys blaming Management.

U need to get rid of players like Mphela, Pelembe, Laffor, Mwanjale nd pity u decided to extend Teko's contract coz these guys just lack the passion to play 4 ur team. Build your team around guys like shongwe, Sangweni, Manqele, Daniels, Punch nd release all the fringe players who add no value.

Also get in players hu are needed nt cz chiefs nd pirates want a certain player. Get rid of Pitso ASAP nd get back Cavin Johnson from Stars.

And lastly, stop abusing ur coaches in full view of the entire country. U only showing ur Prima Donnas that their pathetic displays are more then welcomed.

Pitso is the worst coach I have ever seen, instead of fixing his problems he wants to cry, hahahaha
All I want from him is 2 beat the average rodents. Then he can go back to his loosing tendencies

RTG, operation 6 points in full swing. Once we get to 61 points we are done, even if plat stars and rodents win all their games and get to 61, they have waaay to inferior goal difference...

Masandawana let's give Pitso a chance for coaching our Team Next Season.
I am also angry about the Stupid mistakes by Shongwe and Our Defenders.
If you can see our Boys they walk in the Field of play in every game, they don't run.
I was very upset when I see Downs play Long balls yesterday.
However Masandawana let's wait and see what Pitso will change next season.

Another week of advise to Pitso.
You should know that if Downs decide to fire you then no Team like Chiefs or Pirates will hire you.
Pitso Offload atleast 20 Players for next Season.
Be a Brave man and fire the whole Downd Management except Buns, Mabushi and Ted.

Good Luck Pitso for your position

Downs is my Team forever
Field Moriri and stop fielding Shongwe.

I love this team called Sundowns out of all their strikers not even 1 has scored more than 3 goals so far, look at their wage at the end of the month its the highest of all teams playing in PSL.I said at the time Pitso was announced the coach of Downs he is not the right man for the job I recommended Shakes Mashaba to the post not big-headed Pitso. Results speaks for themselves now he deserved to be shown the door the team will not grow under him.
