Kaizer Chiefs beat Black Leopards 3-1

Posted: 20 February 2013 Time: 21:23

Kingston Nkhatha scored against his former club as Kaizer Chiefs beat Black Leopards 3-1 at Peter Mokaba on Wednesday night.

Tefu Mashamaite had given Chiefs a fourth minute lead from a corner-kick.

Joshua Obaje levelled matters just before the break from a quick counter before Nkhatha netted to restore Chiefs' lead on 65 minutes, and Lucky Baloyi's goal in injury time made sure of the three points.

It was a valiant display from Leopards, but that could not earn them the points.

Amakhosi were given a boost in the match as Morgan Gould returned to starting line-up after his six-month injury lay-off.

In the fourth minute Siphiwe Tshabalala did well to deliver a corner kick to Gould inside the box and it was the defender who directed the effort to Mashamaite, with the centre-back making no errors in putting it past the goalkeeper.

In the 18th minute Leopards showed some urgency in their search for the equaliser and Mongezi Bobe tested Itumeleng Khune from the left of the byline.

Then the Chiefs shot-stopper pulled off the save of the match in the 23rd minute, when he pushed Brian Amidu’s effort onto the upright before gathering the rebound.

Leopards were putting Chiefs under pressure and they tested their luck through Djunga Munganga, who had a shot from 30 yards on the half hour mark.

And their insistence paid off when Obaje beat Khune at the near post with an easy tap-in three minutes from the half-time break.

Abel Makhubela opted to make a change at the start of the second half, bringing on David Zulu in place of Amidu.

Azwindini Maphaha was forced into making a save off Bernard Parker’s 60th minute set-piece, and five minutes later Chiefs put themselves ahead for the second time.

Reneilwe Letsholonyane supplied a through-ball to Nkhatha, who struck it first time with a powerful shot, which shook the back of the net despite Leopards’ goalkeeper having got his fingertips to it.

Despite the pressure from the home side, Chiefs left Polokwane with the glory, when a goal from the substitute Lucky Baloyi in the 94th minute sealed the win and left Stuart Baxter’s side smiling.

Willard Katsande......what a player

Gaxa needs to go back to the bench....Moleko must start

Gould still not march fit but he was not bad especially 2nd half.

Yeye there is simple no better ball passer than him in this country at the moment

Masango should have stayed on the bench in the last 25min....Rusike was needed

Baloyi a player with a big heart.....happy he scored it will help his confindence

Mr Baxter......Why did you replace Nkatha especially after scoring the goal?

I repeat: The league title is coming home.

Not so fast Zebras! Before you throw your gold panties and alice bands up in the air after beating this weak wuss of a team, remember these words:

“Irvin was a busy guy and I didn’t want to put pressure… In the end things worked out for me at Pirates. I mean I was at Chiefs for 10 years and I never won a championship, but I played for Pirates for two seasons and I was a PSL champion,” said Thabang Lebese!

This too shall pass. Unfortunately Bucs are NO LONGER in a charitable mood to take any chancers in the form of Cowbalala, Cowxa and etc from your kraal in order to bless them with a league medal. Like Lebese, you will wait a full 10 YEARS for that.

Up The Bucs...

I agree Shabba is trying but he is finished, maybe is time he come from the bench or give him two three matches off.

Marshal Mashamaite was just brilliant as always. Ritchie was better than Masilela.

So where are those dogs who said Chiefs has no depth ? Tonite half of the players who started didn't play at the weekend. And by the way when are the Chiefs wheels coming off ?

And again why are these dogs not promising to beat Chiefs on 09 March ? Have the DOGS learnt a bitter lesson December 08 ?

Hahahahahaha! That's like a snake chowing a snake after it had bitten it with venom; it has no effect on us Buccaneers! That very venom (finger), we're immune to it! So how can it affect us?

Try something else. We're not phased nor are we flinching.

Up The Bucs until Chimps stop taking the Finger from Bucs...

Kusazo shoba this season. Ayikapheli isazo shoba.

Well done Makhosi. Gaxa needs to review his game alone. Masilela needs to think about his future he must fight because Richie's got a hand on that position and he seems to be pulling the other from the pocket to have both on it. Other than that i was impressed by our resistance but was disappointed of how we conceded.

Whilst they were busy Choke Slamming Platinum Stars players we were busy equaling the goals to the points we received.

It is very cold outside Kaizer Chiefs. Either you are with us or against us.
