Match report: Orlando Pirates beat Platinum Stars

Posted: 20 February 2013 Time: 21:28

Orlando Pirates have kept the heat on log leaders Kaizer Chiefs with a fortunate 1-0 victory over third-placed Platinum Stars on Wednesday night.

Dikwena were unlucky on the night, bossing possession and hitting the upright twice, but were undone by a Daine Klate goal soon after half-time.

Stars might have been in front half an hour in when Thuso Phala played a perfect pass for Mogakolodi Ngele, and with just Senzo Meyiwa to beat the Botswana star hit the post. Patrick Malokase picked up the loose ball, but his effort was wide.

Pirates were ahead on 53 minutes, however, and it was a well-worked goal. Thandani Ntshumayelo dribbled his way into the penalty area and played a low ball across goal, which was side-footed in from a tight angle at the back post by Klate.

Thabo Matlaba and Vuyo Mere could both have seen red after a nasty scuffle soon afterwards, but got away with yellow cards.

Enocent Mkhabela almost found an equaliser for Stars, his header from a corner had goal written all over it, but Meyiwa had his hands raised already and was able to knock the ball to safety.

Stars had the lion’s share of possession in the closing stages as Pirates sat back and tried to catch them on the break, with Siphelele Mthembu striking the base of the post with a fine turn on the edge of the area in the final seconds of the match.

Jerry Skosana is a chimpanzee straight.....he admited anyway that he is a Kaizer Cheap suppoter, he is bitter that he never played for his beloved team. He always comment kak about Pirates....that was clearly not a penalty. Phala did not have the ball, Umshumayeli tried to kick the ball and miss it and Phala made contact with him. There is no way that can be a penalty....the Kaizer Chiempanzees are desparate.

Champs & champ-wannabies I humbly come to you with this request...

I joined the News24 commenting platform yesterday... & with great disgust I saw that the majority of commentators are non-Africans, especially pertaining to issues were Africans are being undermined... like the lives they live, non-Africans are deceiving themselves about our realities, trivializing our existence, our hustle & our struggle... yes we might have faultering leaders but they make it so racial & it ticks me off...

Within their non-African groups this is what they discuss, all along I thought we were progressing as a nation until I found this cocoon, NEWS24, were non-Africans are "getting high on their own supply"...

So I humbly come before you on a recruitment crusade of Africans to come balance the views on this NEWS24 site.... YESES those people are out of touch, out of order and are so disrespectful... Its unbelievable...!

Heed my call ladies & gents let's flood sites like NEWS24 & let's let them know who we...!

Champ, the racial undertone is truly disgustíng at news24, same goes for mail&guardain and a whole bunch of other pro-white online publications. The oscar pistorious saga ìs gettin modest and diplomatic reviews, then wait for a juju malema #### up then these white folks immediately undermine, belittle the intelligence of black folks. Let's go deal with em, I'm in!
