Kaizer Chiefs and University of Pretoria draw League clash

Posted: 15 December 2012 Time: 19:52

Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw by the University of Pretoria in a Premiership match on Saturday night at the FNB Stadium. Mame Niang cancelled out George Lebese first goal of the season nine minutes after giving Chiefs the lead.

The first sated off in a pedestrian mode and Chiefs only had their first meaningful attack at goal in the 13th minute when the visitors failed to clear a corner and the ball fell to Willard Katsande who shot straight at keeper Washington Arubi from inside the box.

With none of the sides showing any activity at goal, the Amakhosi once again threatened the Tuks goal 13 minutes later when George Lebese unleashed a low shot with his weaker right foot which went wide off the target after a nice build up of exchanging passes with fellow wide man Siphiwe Tshabalala.

Eight minutes before the half time break AmaTuks had their first real opportunity when a well worked set piece from AmaTuks resulted in Thabo Mosadi piercing through the Chiefs defence and unleashing a low snap shot which Chiefs keeper Itumeleng Khune got down parry away which fell into the path of Bongani Zungu who blasted high in front of open net.

The home took the lead 10 minutes into the second half with a wonderful passing build up. Bernard Parker won the ball for Chiefs in the middle of the park and released Tshabalala who then carried the ball forward and swiftly passed to Reneilwe Letsholonyane and the Bafana Bafana midfielder’s through ball to George Lebese in the box who collected, turned and coolly slot beyond Arubi in the 55th minute.

But AmaTuks soon found the equaliser when Chiefs failed to deal with a low cross into the box and the visitors towering target man Mame Niang who was a half time substitute found some space in the box and beat Khune with a low shot in the 64th minute.

Four minutes later Chiefs had an opportunity to reclaim the lead when Lehlohonolo Majoro found some space and dazzled his way through the Tuks backline but his his shot was well saved by Arubi from close range in the 68th minute.

The stadium was not empty just that it was not filled. Not filled doesnt mean is empty. I realised that most Chiefs supporters ha gone back to their respective homes since they have closed from their work place.

Why am I not surprized dat a Pirates fan commented first... Anyways it's just one of those games where things jst do not click, i'm glad we've had jst a few of those... I belive our technical team needs to be unpredictable at tyms especially since some of our players are playing as if they are entitled to a first line- up... I feel Parker is not deserving of a first eleven position as of late and must be benched, No Favors! Otherwise Khosi Through and Through... Glory takes a lot of effort!

We can see closely the balls of Majoro now, we can touch them and what is left for us is to pull them. Should we cut or pull them? Makhozikazi will tell us.....
