Orlando Pirates drop points against Chippa United

Posted: 5 December 2012 Time: 21:25

Defending League champions Orlando Pirates dropped two valuable points in the title race after being held to a goalless draw by Chippa United at Athlone Stadium.

It took just five minutes for the first real chance, with Manti Moholo having his shot tipped onto the bar by goalkeeper Daouda Kassaly.

More chances arrived as Larry Cohen fired wide from range and then William Twala spurned a great opportunity when he tried unsuccessfully to pick out Ngebo instead of shooting following a slip-up from Thabo Matlaba.

Matlaba was off target with a shot from 30-yards as action continued to move from goalmouth to goalmouth.

Chippa had a further chance to score in the first half, but Msekelei Mvalo had his header cleared off the line by Daine Klate.

Chippa were nearly in front on the hour-mark when Senzo Meyiwa did superbly to keep Happy Jele’s back-pass out of his net, and then made a magnificent diving save to stop James Okwuoso hitting the top corner.

For the most part it was Pirates who were on top for the closing stages, but their efforts were confined to shots from range, with Kassaly not overly troubled.

The shot-stopper did, however, still have work to do when he made a top-class save to prevent Oupa Manyisa from netting in injury-time.

The result leaves Bucs three points behind Kaizer Chiefs ahead of Saturday's Soweto Derby.

Chibuku FC are really a joke of a team. Where in the world do you find a player with a pot belly like that of Bennie McCarthy playing for a professional team ?

Hahahahhahahahahahahaha....... The fatty boom boom likes so much limelight he declared himself fit so that he can play against Chiefs on Saturday.

Ofcourse we have depth, we played our fringe players and drew. If rene gorrila misses a game, chiefs loses, show hold ur horses wena donkeys

Something from the maximal training manual, you can defend with your eyes closed, the opposition will still not score.

Roger WTF man, why the hell did Manyisa start on the bench, or were you saving him for Chiefs, Manti had a horrible game, I don't know how he finished the match. Same thing with Segolela. Matlaba is selfish and lacks quality in the final third, personally I prefer Phungwayo. Benni had no supply in the game and we really missed Myeni's creativity to be honest. Lots of bad decisions today have to say but we can learn a lot from this.

I've said it before & I'll say it again... Under Roger Piecity will keep playing such inconsistent football... They've already lost out on 2 trophies, 1 of them under Roger, who failed to get his team to consolidate on a 3 - 0 lead against Bloem Celtic... these were clear signs of a former small team coach, with small team mentality getting the better of him!!
#Roger that Makakaniya.

Never the less this is why we love Supa Diski, there is no therefore... Well Done Chilli Boys!!
