Kaizer Chiefs beat SuperSport United

Posted: 10 November 2012 Time: 22:12

Kaizer Chiefs restored their four-point lead at the top of the Premiership with a 2-1 win over SuperSport United at a rainy Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday night.

Lehlohonolo Majoro continued his excellent form with two goals, while Kermit Erasmus scored Matsatsantsa’s consolation strike.

Chiefs were the first team to settle into a rhythm and opened the scoring midway through the first half. Siphiwe Tshabalala provided a low cross from the left flank and Lehlohonolo Majoro was left unmarked, easily finding the back of the net from close range.

Yet the Soweto side’s lead lasted just 10 minutes, as SuperSport levelled just after the half hour mark. A ball played across the middle of the park was whipped into the back of the net by Kermit Erasmus, who beat goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune’s right hand.

The teams exchanged periods of dominance in the remainder of the first half and the opening phase of the second, though Matsatsantsa were hit by an ankle injury to striker Atusaye Nyondo, which saw him replaced by Thabiso Nkoana.

On 65 minutes Chiefs surged back in front through another well-taken goal by Majoro. On this occasion the forward fended off the attentions of Mor Diouf to slide home a diagonal long-ball from defender Eric Mathoho.

Though United pushed hard for an equaliser late in the game, it was Chiefs who came closest to adding to the score in the 88th minute when Bernard Parker hit the post and substitute Kingston Nkhatha just missed out on the rebound.

Bennie + Chinyama = 3 Nil IN 20 minutes against Chiefs in December 08.
SSU will deal with them n Swallows will finish them off, from now on, there is only one way for Chiefs n thats is downwards.

@Mosixty, I agree. Shabba is becoming a liability. One assist is not enough. He missed so many count less chances. That said, Amakhos'jabulile!

Okay let me check, all our teeth are still intact,We are still unbeaten in the league,'Chiefs still seem unstoppable',We are still on top of the table,Baxter is still head coach even after the '5 games',Our strikers are still scoring goals and winning matches for us.But we kind of struggled to grab the bull by the horns first half, but no fuss Sir Baxter should be able address that.

I guess we are still reclaiming the glory 90 minutes at a time.Marching on to the next one.

It doesn't matter where and how, what matters is 3-points even if it means breaking the virginity we are ready to do it just for 3-points. We are not afraid of virgins, there are no more virgins in the PSL they are all broken.

The quality we possess is unbelievable. It's second to none. From here onwards, on Chiefs can stop Chiefs from being champions. Ukunyiwe!
