Orlando Pirates thump Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld

Posted: 7 November 2012 Time: 21:19

Orlando Pirates moved up to second place in the log standings after a comprehensive 3-1 win against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday night.

The Buccaneers led at halftime through Thulasizwe Mbuyane and Takesure Chinyama, while Sifiso Myeni added another before Edward Manqele's late consolation.

Sundowns couldn’t afford anymore slip-ups in the League, and they got off to the better start when Teko Modise’s sixth-minute free-kick narrowly went just over the crossbar.

A moment of brilliance proved to be the difference in the opening stages when Mbuyane tapped home after good work by Chinyama.

It was a frustrating moment for Sundowns as they struggled to make anything from all their possession, with their own fans jeering Eleazar Rodgers for not being able to convert his chances.

And Pirates doubled their lead just before the break when they exposed the defence with some quick passing which eventually led to Myeni laying the ball off to Chinyama, who curled a 20-yard shot past Wayne Sandilands.

It was the same story just after the break when Daine Klate forced the goalie into a smart save, while Jabu Shongwe came closest for The Brazilians, hitting the crossbar with a powerful long-range drive.

However, Sundowns were out of ideas and eventually conceded a third when the former Bidvest Wits duo, Patrick Phungwayo and Myeni, interchanged passes before the latter finished with an expert finish.

Sundowns pulled one back through substitute Edward Manqele, but it was nothing more than a consolation, increasing the pressure on their coach Johan Neeskens.

Its a shame, why cant they form a rugby team like the zebras. When you realize that some options are not working, try B option and C one.
Zebras realize that they are not in it by being knocked out of every competition(first round) and they will never win the league, not now cause their toitoises are captured somewhere next door, then they formed the rugby team
About the league, forget the zebras, they wont be near the no.3 spot, the will be far behind. Remember we moered them in our last two games, the league and the CBL

Pirates without andile is lacking in the central mid field, Jali is key not only to pirates but to the whole nation, he reads the game very well, you cant see ace if Jali is not there, but u can see Jali even if ace is not there, as for MATLABA what a player, even now i still cant believe that the coach is playing Gaxa instead of this boy, Phungwayo and Matlaba are working very hard, Moholo must be introduced in the place of Ace @ times, and Masalesa and Bibo in the absence of Jali, infron Juju must fight for the position with either Bester ndulula, and please loan Mabena............................nxn le nja

Comrades Marthon- A Race that is run by athletes annually between Pietermaritzburg and Durban for 80 km. Bruce Fordyce is the most admired and respected Marathon runner South Africa has ever produced, he won the COMRADES MARATHON for 9 consecutive years in the Late 80s-till the early 90s. He would let all the early pacesetters dictate the race and lead sometimes even till the halfway point. However, right towards the end or in the last quarter of the race, he would approach the Leader, get neck and neck with him before entering DBN and PMB, as he pass the leader(s), he would hug him, shake hands with him and run away to his victories!! Moral of this true story: A league is a Marathon-and Chiefs be careful this is the years of Pirates Dominance-like Bruce Fordyce in comrades marathon those years!!

This was a "Meyiwa versus Rodgers" game.
Both players were outstanding in their respective positions, and Senzo Meyiwa was a winner at the end.
Now I understand why Neeskens prefers Rodgers ahead of other 8 strikers.

RDS is demotivating Chinyama by substituting him when he is doing well, and player had already convected one opportunity,

What were people expecting? it will be mischivous of Sunclowns to fire the coach after losing to Trebble Kings. I would understand firing a coach after losing to zebras / Umbrella holders / Q1 Champions.
