Match report: Emphatic win for Kaizer Chiefs over Golden Arrows

Posted: 6 November 2012 Time: 21:25

Kaizer Chiefs were too good for Golden Arrows on Tuesday night, earning a 3-0 win, thanks to two second-half strikes by substitute Kingston Nkhatha, to go six points clear on the top of the log.

It was a match in which home side dominated, but they battled to turn possession into goals. Despite Lehlohonolo Majoro's early opener, Amakhosi almost allowed a disjointed Arrows back into the game.

Had it not been for Nkhatha extending the lead and giving Chiefs some breathing space, there could well have been some nervy moments for Stuart Baxter.

The opening chance of the game arrived in the second minute when Majoro flicked a shot goalwards from Siboniso Gaxa's supply, only to see Pavels Steinbors tip it out for a corner. Chiefs meant business and they were to go on the attack from then on.

Zambian Justine Zulu shot straight at Khune on 11 minutes, but after that Chiefs went on the rampage and really should have been 3-0 ahead at half-time.

Majoro opened the scoring with a brilliantly curled shot past Steinbors' grasp, after being supplied by Tshabalala.

Three minutes later Majoro got on the end of an inviting cross from the right, but could not get enough of his head on the ball.

In the 25th minute Philani Shange thought he had won a penalty for Arrows when he went down inside the danger area, after making a good turn. But the referee felt he went down too easily and he was booked instead.

Chiefs went close on half an hour, when Siyabonga Nkosi got up high to flick a header at goal, but Steinbors moved quickly to tip the ball around his upright.

Abafana Bes'thende came back into the game in the second half and substitute Thamsanqa Gabuza got free and blasted a shot way over the bar.

But Nkhatha made the game certain for Chiefs when he got onto the end of a long ball over the top that caught the Arrows backline flat.

The Zimbabwean pounced again in the 83rd minute when he showed a good touch on the run before powering in a shot, which beat Steinbors at his near post.

The competition is tough up front. Our leading goal scorer king Parker will dig deep to come back to the first eleven. No one is guaranteed a place in our team unlike else where...........where the likes of Myessi are guaranteed a place in the first 11. We marching on

The wheels are starting to come on now, the wheels are starting to come off now. If Chiefs was Pirates, they would have lost tonight's game by 4 goals to 3 after leading Arrows 3 nil for 88 minutes...

You don't need 3 defensive mids to beat teams 3 nil and 6 nil, all you need is Kaizer Chiefs.

First half we created lots of chances unfortunately we couldn’t use those chances effectively . The score should have scored 7 or 8 goals. We need to be clinical in front of the poles.
I didn’t see much of Rusike , maybe starting the game was a bit too much for him. Overall we played well and our defence isn’t up to scratch .

I repeat……
No team has won more league titles than Manchester United in England
No team has won more league titles than Kaizer Chiefs in Sout Africa
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Most league titles? I take it you including the NSL,NSPL and when T.V was still black and white coz in the PSL Chiefs have only won 2

Eish MAkhosi we won. But I think our boys played kak. We dominated the entire first half and Arrows were totally disjointed in the first 45 minutes. We should have finished the first half at least 3-0 up. Had Arrows taken the few chances they got against the run of play we could be talking a different lingo. Modern football is no longer only about ball possession and how you control play but it's all about taking your chances and killing the game.

Had Arrows managed to equalize the outcome could have been different. George Lebese is really a let down. I really don't know what to make of this boy. One moment he shows flashes of brilliance and the next moment he is just useless. I'm still waiting to see him give a solid 90 minutes performance.

As for Kaizer Motaung jnr i rest my case. The boy just doesn't have football brains. Anyway thanks for the three points boys. By the time the first round is over we will be 10 points to the good.

You know that mina I've never been a fan of these 2 players(George Lebese and Mandla Masango)
The problem with these guys , they're lite a R5 airtime ......they always dissapoint where you need them most .
I'm hoping Stuart Baxter is baking Mandla Masango...like he baked his CV, and got a job at Kaizer Chiefs
Then he (Baxter) baked Majoro and turned him into a monster upfront.....scoring goals
Now Kongston Nkatha is another hungry monster ...scoring goals

Baked CV is better than a baseball bat

I am ahppy that Sion FC failed to win their match against Chippa United. They will approach the next game desperate for results and they will get hurt. A team that plays agais Chiefs desperate for a win will always come out second best.

I'm happy that we continue to get good results when we continue to have players on the injury list.

Let's just learn to finish the game off from the on-set,we should convert those chances like NKHATHA did as soon as possible....i'm glad we won convincingly at the end but we should not play in patches....let us kill these teams off in the first half.....we do have depth and we are not just reliant on Parker alone, that was evident tonight, one game at a time and ONE Q-INNOVATION AT A TIME
