Kaizer Chiefs draw with Maritzburg United

Posted: 26 October 2012 Time: 21:56

Terrence Mandaza scored in the final minute of time added on as Maritzburg United snatched a 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs on Friday evening.

Lehlohonolo Majoro scored early on for the visitors but, in the seventh and final minute of time added on, Mandaza looped a header over the diving Itumeleng Khune for a share of the spoils.

Chiefs though, only have themselves to blame after squandering numerous scoring opportunities throughout the match.

Amakhosi certainly didn’t start brightly as they struggled to get hold of the ball, but as they found their feet Stuart Baxter’s men began stringing passes together and creating chances on goal.

And one of these chances were finally converted when Reneilwe Letsholonyane headed down to Majoro, who duly obliged with a deadly finish to give his side the lead.

Chiefs continued to pile on the pressure with numerous corner-kicks and forays forward, but they were unable to find that final pass or cross that would lead to their second goal.

Majoro should really have doubled Chiefs’ lead two minutes into the second half when he found himself through on goal again, but this time he fired wide from about 14 yards out.

Shu-Aib Walters then kept his side in the game with two fantastic save within eight minutes. First, in the 60th minute, he produced a great reflex save to deny Majoro and then in the 68th he flung himself across the face of goal to tip a Bernard Parker shot around the post.

As the second half progressed Chiefs began to tire and United began to find some openings, the most costly for the visitors coming in the seventh minute of injury time.

Mandaza got onto the end of a Peter Petersen cross to level matters with virtually the last touch of the game.

www.kaizerchiefsfc.com has launches a new competition for the rejected supporters...

The competitions is titled "Name The Slogan - 2013/2014"...

Essentially they are looking for a new slogan for the up coming season since "Rise Khosi Rise" didn't work & "Reclaiming the Glory" is proving to be a flop...

I am not suprised by the draw, both teams play a similar kind of football. They rely on mobile & pacey strikers. The middlefield is not used effectively to direct & dictate play. The ball is ping-ponged foward for the likes of Majoro or Malatjila hoping that they will turn the defence.

The system is good for MU but not for KC, with this type of system KC will not win the league. I once said you can't win the league on conter-attacking football. The CV cooker must understand that this is not England, even his native country has done away with this kind of soccer.

I now understand why the likes of Nkosi find it difficult to play, the ball flys over to the strikers or the wingers, the M.fielders are only there to defend or kick the ball forward in a hurry without thinking.

If KC wants to win the league, Stuart & Doctor must revert to the system of playing football not this skop & donner rubbish. Players must play not get rushed to the opposition half without empowering ideas on how to attack. They must trust more the innate ability of players to perform some magic instead of making them robots. They play for KC not Santos aren't they?

as long as Coach leave Nkatha or Ngcobo on the bench , he must just forgrt . We need a big out and out striker upfront not a Parker /Majoro combination . They are both not out n out strkers . We started off so well with Parker feeding off Nkatha and now we killed that combination . It must be Nkatha/Parker or Nkatha/Majoro combination or kiss the League goodbye

Spot on Mgugudi, chimps play route 1 soccer bypassing midfield that's why they always have many players in both boxes, back and front.
