Match report: Bloemfontein Celtic beat Orlando Pirates

Posted: 30 September 2012 Time: 16:07

Bloemfontein Celtic inflicted Roger de Sa's first defeat as Orlando Pirates coach when they beat the defending champions 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Lennox Bacela got the winner 11 minutes from time.

In the second minute of the match Thulasizwe Mbuyane was offered a chance to shoot from outside the box on the left side, but his shot flew wide across the face of goal.

In the 10th minute the home side had their first chance, when Ruzaigh Gamildien tried a shot from a tight angle, but Moeneeb Josephs made an easy save. The Celtic striker will reflect that he should have crossed for his two teammates in the box.

Onyekachi Okonkwo curled a beautiful right footed shot from 20 metres out a few minutes later, but Patrick Tignyemb parried the ball out for a corner.

Midfield dynamo Oupa Manyisa then tried shot from a tight angle on the right but his effort was also parried away for a corner.

Just after the half-hour mark there was a double chance for Pirates as Mbuyane rattled the woodwork from eight metres out. The ball rebounded and he had a second go from just outside the small box but his low shot was gathered by Tignyemb.

In the 65th Lerato Manzini fluffed a golden opportunity one-on-one with Moeneeb Josephs, but the keeper narrowed down the shooting angle and blocked his shot.

In the 79th the stadium was in raptures when the home side found the lead. After a long throw-in, Joel Mogorosi lobbed the ball over the Pirates defence and Bacela sneaked past Lucky Lekgwathi and Rooi Mahamutsa and put the ball beyond Josephs.

Celtic should have doubled their lead in the 87th minute when Mduduzi Nyanda unleashed a shot which was deflected toward an empty net, but Lekgwathi cleared the ball off the line.

Roger De Sa does not deserve to coach Orlando Pirates....he is a failure and I dont see him lasting the entire season as I said when they hired him......

Is Pirates going to win another treble this season?
Is Pirates going to conquer Africa and bring home the much talked about second star?

Phefeni Boy

since you started commenting on KO, i hve to agree wth only one point you made wen u said that you hve 200 000 Pirates sapotas and later on came wth n 'error' excuse and said you meant your pirates fans are 20 000...i stil agreed wth this points

in todays game, i saw 20 000 pirates fans that are your frends, plus Feelosophers 20 000 pirates fans and etc.

i summarised your point into: for any chiefs fan there is 20 000 pirates fans...it is simply the ratio 1 : 20 000

thousands of pple who packed the stadium vandag wre disapointed, millions in SA are disapointed, Billions in Africa are disapointed....only a few monkeys in new g-strings are jumping from one tree to anada celebrating the way the do wen they see a truck writen SELINA's FRUITS delivery ama-dried fruits in chiembabwe

Pirates waya-waya mgidoyi ka bobby....Pirates wil win the trebble...from whre we stand wre UNSHAKEN...umlilo we maphepha a u sthusi

Fatal mistake from Rodger...

I mean the football was delicious upto the 57min when Tlou was replaced along with others...

We lost shape, we lost control, we lost 3points... we can only hope RDS learns from this mistake...

Strike 1....

does loosing to Celtic delete or rub off the fact that wre the undisputed PSL champs and Telkom Champs?

let me give you a list of Champs in SA soccer.
1. Pirates - PSL n TELKOM champs
2. SSU - NEDBANK champs
3. Moroka Swallows - MTN 8 champs

i dnt see Chiefs is this list, by there way...macufe cup havent been played this season.

U know some players are useless,Mbuyane plays almost every game & he is doing nothing for the team,90 minutes plus refree's optional time every week.Mum Ruby & Bester are the worst signings the chairman has
made.Lekgwathi has realy reached his end,he must just swallow his pride & retire at the end of the season. Please mabakhaniya the chairman must go all out & sign stikers if we want to win something this season. This thing of not scoring is very very serious.we must offload guys mbuyane, mum Ruby, bester must go.the team is realy suffering and we think we have the best players.Roger must start from scratch & we must support him.the fighting spirit is gone,no cup this year, maybe next season.

Only one coach built Pierats,KROL, then the tender coaches followed, they pocket money and be gone. Another TENDER to coach Pierats is coming soon, whether you qualified or not is immeterial, even Mozabiquan can coach. I think Ted is next. maybe no mkhwenyana.

ur right champ, thats wre we lost it, especially wen we substituted TICO. n again m stil not satisfied wth the contribution of Jali, especially wen we wre playing TICO, ACE n him in the middle....he is no longer going 4wad and atacking the way i used to know him, lets hope its only the tactics aplied on the day that worked against him bcos he is the best in his position wen compared wth the current crop of cows in other teams especially Katsande

wen coming 2 defense, RDS must play eida Lucky nor Ntsimbi wth a youngsta...celtic pace exposed us...parafin fc from next door shuld hve beaten us today wth their 'pump it 4wad' futball...the only pacy playa in that defence was Matlaba...Celtic nearly buried us alive wen they sub him for a striker

to Chiefs fans: i dnt discuss tactics wth pple who dnt know them, jus register n enroll for a crash course in TACTICS b4 u can realise your dream of engaging the 'Jose Mourinho' of this forum
