Jomo Cosmos relegated for the PSL after draw with Black Leopards

Posted: 16 May 2012 Time: 21:34

Jomo Cosmos have made an instant return to the National First Division after a 2-2 draw with Black Leopards at Sinaba Stadium on Wednesday night.

Late goals by Tshidiso Tukane and Matthew Rusike saved some face for Jomo Sono’s men after Mongezi Bobe’s brace had put Lido Duvha ahead.

The relegation is Sono’s third in row in the top-flight, but it could have started so much more positive but for Katlego Loke’s shot hitting the post.

In the 16th minute Cosmos had another opportunity when a shot by Matthew Rusike went over the bar, with Bobe following suit two minutes later.

Avril Phali saved from Ernort Dzaga just before the break, while Bobe again fired over to send the teams into the break on level terms.

Cosmos fell behind the 72nd minute after great work from Raymond Monama on the left as he beat a defender before sending the ball into the area, where Bobe made no mistake.

Leopards doubled their lead four minutes later; Bobe controlled the ball on the edge of the box before unleashing a curling left-footed shot that beat Phali.

The match had seemed won by Leopards, but the Ezenkosi pulled one back six minutes from time.

Tukane, who had only just came on as a substitute two minutes earlier, got Cosmos back into the match as he slotted home from a goalmouth scramble.

Four minutes later, Siyabonga Nhlapo showed good vision as he found Rusike, who beat the offside trap and the Leopards keeper to make it 2-2.

Cosmos have now been automatically relegated from the PSL for the third consecutive time, whilst Leopards are not safe yet as they are only two points ahead of Santos in the fight for survival and try to avoid the relegation/promotion play-offs.

This Mjomana is an insult to our beautiful nation, how can msanzi legend insult himself and a country like this? I believe he is the one who was suppossed to give opportunity to other legends like, Radebe, Tovey and many other guys to work with him and turn his team into one of the most competitive teams in PSL.

He hold Board meetings alone, he holds management meetings alone, he does coaching by himself, he scout players by himself, he runs the payroll himself and expect to succeed. Nxa sis maan, this is an insult

@Nipson......Good point. Not that he is a bad coach, but he hold too many posts himself. The fact that his team will return immidiately says it all about his coaching abilities.

Leopards were so stupid to get a draw, once they scored the second goal they became big headed, we will not worry if they go back to NFD. They dug their own grave. To Jomo I would ilike to say "Please get a coach to coach the team and be the team derector. Zuma must do like Kaizer, like Irvin Khosa.

Hamba kahle Mjomana, you added no value to the league you running the team like a Spaza shop hope you have learned your lesson and you will employ a coach and start transforming the team into a proffessional outfit.

Cosmos used to have talented players, not average players& used to have high objectives like champions league(semifinalists in 1993), league title(which they won in 1987). Jomo also used to have someone assisting him with coaching duties while taking care of other things. He needs to go back & fetch that 'recipe' that he threw away or else his team will go extinct like other former greats lyk Durban City, Bush Bucks,ETC
