Kaizer Chiefs will meet Orlando Pirates in 2011 MTN8 Final

Posted: 28 August 2011 Time: 17:00

Orlando Pirates will meet Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 Final after a 4-3 aggregate win over Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday.

The Soweto giants won the two-legged cup tie with the Brazilians 4-3 (the first leg last weekend ended 3-2 in Pirates’ favour) and have kept up their hopes of defending the first of the three trophies they won last season.

Though the match at Loftus paled in comparison to last weekend’s five-goal thriller at Orlando Stadium, it was still an intriguing battle and featured two well taken goals from Elias Pelembe and Oupa Manyisa in the second half.

In a goalless first half, the visitors did well to stifle Sundowns’ creative midfielders Musa Nyatama and Teko Modise, which cut out the supply to Elias Pelembe and striker Katlego Mphela.

Bucs were generally content to sit deep but they still offered more of an attacking threat than Downs, with the pace of wingers Tlou Segolela and Dikgang Mabalane providing the perfect platform for counter attacks.

After the break the game opened up much more, especially as Sundowns finally moved up through the gears and took charge of midfield.

On 63 minutes the Brazilians finally broke the deadlock, with Pelembe coolly finishing from inside the box after exchanging passes with Lebohang Mokoena.

With Sundowns now having the edge on away goals, Pirates were forced to come out of their shell and they duly drew level on 70 minutes through an early contender for goal of the season from Manyisa.

The midfielder picked up a clearance from a corner-kick about 40 metres from goal and proceeded to send a phenomenal long-range shot beyond the reach of Wayne Sandilands to make it 1-1 on the day and 4-3 on aggregate.

Sundowns threw numbers forward in the dying minutes in an effort to back in front – and left themselves open to counter-attacking opportunities that Bucs were not able to take advantage of – but there were no further goals.

I WOULD LIKE 2 TAKE MY VALUABLE TIME N THIS OPOTUNITY GIVEN BY KO TO CONGRATULATE THE REF ON HIS GOOD HANDLING OF THE GAME. THE REF DID WELL 2DAY BUT IT SEEMS AS IF NO-ONE NOTICED IT WHILE A SINGLE MISTAKE TANISHES THEIR IMAGE. IF REFS WERE 2 B FAIR N SQUAR LIKE 2DAY, I SEE PIRATE ACHIEVING MORE THAN THE TREBLE 2DAY.

BACK 2 THE TOPIC: SHAME ON KANYEZA, DIVING IN THE 18 AREA 4 A PENALTY. U WONT GET A PENALTY IN EACH N EVERY GAME U PLAY AGAINST BUCS N OUR PLAYERS WONT BE RED CARDED AGAINST DOWNS IN EACH N EVERY GAME. THATS Y AFTER DONKEY YEARS IN THE PSL, HE IS STILL IMPROVING. PIRATES IS NOT SWALLOWS, TAKING UR FRUSTRATIONS ON THEM DOES NOT GUARANTEE A WIN AGAINST THE GALAXY. SUNDOWNS RAN OUT OF 4 GOALS AGAINST BUCS. PIRATES HAS CLAIMED BACK ITS THRONE.

ON A MORE SERIOUS NOTE: cheeseboy n gogo earth called khumbulekaya so as to re-unite them with their loved ones. the kumbule khaya crew were on their way wen the van got a punture. so the re-union has been delayed. their family is set 2 be somewere in mayfair, while the two are set 2 be stranded in chrookop(sound like a place 4 the mentaly chalenged).

next they called zola 7 4 help but they found the offices been closed. relate is their last hope. question on everybodies lips,"will relate succed in sending them 2 their destinations"

The difference between Bucs & Downs is the character & determination & the winning culture which has developed at Bucs.
Winning is a culture at Bucs,we have indeed become like Barcelona. even average players are becoming superstars.you see, without doubt Pelembe scored a beautiful goal but it was cancelled by Manyisa's stunner.it was a more brilliant goal.that's what continue to separate us and Downs.
I feel sorry for Zebras & Vicks Vaporub.whether Benni will be in or not,we must moer this guys.its one trophy at a go,starting with MTN 8!!
