Santos beat Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 22 April 2012 Time: 16:49

New Santos coach Maart Nooij recorded an impressive win on debut, leading The People's Team to a 2-1 victory against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday afternoon.

By the same token, it was a third successive loss for Chiefs caretaker coaches Doctor Khumalo and Donald Khuse, who were appointed following the sacking of Vladimir Vermezovic.

The first half saw Santos pinned back in their own half for the most part, unable to get any rhythm going in their play, ensuring Chiefs keeper Ithumeleng Khune was a virtual spectator.

The chances that did come fell to Chiefs, but they were not able to make proper use of their opportunities.

Siphiwe Tshabalala was doing his best to make things happen, getting in a couple of decent crosses and linking nicely with his team-mates around the box.

Lehlohonolo Majoro also had a few chances on goal, but he shot over the bar in the 11th minute and then shot weakly in the 39th minute after Lucky Baloyi had seen his shot strike the defender.

The second half was off to an action packed start as Santos went in front immediately after the break, thanks to a Salmaan King header from Thabiso Ntloana’s cross.

In the 47th minute it was 2-0 to the home side as Eleazar Rodgers showed good composure to pick out the far corner of the net after a superb through ball from Tyren Arendse.

For the remainder of the half the Cape side very much found themselves on the back foot as they faced one Chiefs attack after another.

With 20 minutes to go Chiefs were right back in the game when George Lebese nipped in to score after a mix-up between Nasief Morris and Wayne Arendse.

The pressure continued to come from AmaKhosi in the final stages of the match, but the home side managed to repel everything that came at them.

Advice and strategy for our fellow Sowetans:

1. Fire the useless and headless DKs.

2. Bobby must take over with a big head so that the moron fans can keep quite.

3. After Bobby lose 2 games Jessica must take over for the remaining matches to take the team to 1st division.

I mean VV took it No.3 from no 2, DKs took it further down to no 8 now, Bobby will take it to 12 while Jessica will finish the relay.

Disaster! I guess for this season Chiefs can forget, the focus might as well move to next season. The irony of this league is that all teams seem to be misfiring toward the end of the season. Perhaps the league administrators should seriously review the number of games that teams are playing in a week. Too much effort, and little time to prepare. This is definitely not a true reflection of our standard of football.

Kaizer Chiefs: It is not you talking but pain and frustration. Sundowns is above cHIVs for your info. Beating Sundowns is just a far fetched dream.

What really puzzles me is that people celebrate with the team we draw with but they drop all three points and tell me where's logic there becaUse we are better of with a point than them with nothing? Useless flops and chips.

Sometimes we are being unfair to the term 'big team', on what basis is these two useless teams big?

Nakhoke, chiefs fan sebezolokhu besitetemela.
listen here u bunch of hobbos, most of u were happy when VV left. Cos u were blinded by the luv of mediocrity dat VV was punishing.

Today Sowetan talked abt the damages which was done by VV. Which damage I may ask.
For the past 2 season VV was doin more of a damage control. He best players were sold to support bobbies weighmore breakfast.

Fans always want to put the blame on the coach.
Fans re not coaches period
