Black Leopards lost 1-2 to Mamelodi Sundowns

Posted: 11 April 2012 Time: 21:30

Mamelodi Sundowns are back at the top of the Premiership table, after they beat Black Leopards 2-1 at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.

Man of the match Punch Masenamela scored first, before his goal was cancelled out by Samuel Mabunda. Masenamela, though, turned provider when he created the winning goal for the Brazilians with a superb left-wing cross, which was converted by Nyasha Mushekwi.

The game kicked off in the strangest fashion as Masenamela opened the scoring in only the second minute with a bit of a fortuitous goal.

The Brazilians' defender tried his luck with an unexpected 35-yard effort which worked its way through a crowd of players, wrong footing the keeper, as it found the back of the net.

Azwindini Maphaha certainly didn’t expect the Downs left-back to let fly from that far out and was actually moving to cover his right-hand post when Masenamela took the shot.

Leopards, though, were not to be outdone and hit back quickly, finding the equaliser 10 minutes later after Mabunda latched onto a Luyolo Mapolisa corner with powerful 12-yard header to level matters.

In the 21st minute the game found its third goal, this time goalscorer Masenamela turned creator when given too much space and time down the left flank.

The Downs man produced a pin-point cross to find Mushekwi, who did well to get in front of his marker, and glanced the ball into the back of the net with a six-yard header.

After the quick-fire opening 20 minutes the game settled down a bit as Sundowns controlled the possession stakes for the remainder of the half.

The second 45 was nowhere near as exciting as the first and, while the possession stakes were reversed, with Leopards seeing more of the ball, the home side could not create any decent chances on goal.

Downs still looked the more threatening going forward and came close to finding their third goal in the 59th minute when Lebohang Mokoena shaved the left-hand upright with a 22-yard volley.

That was the best of the second half action as both teams were wasteful in the final third of the field.

Yellow Nation, I believe the MEAN YELLOW MACHINE stands a better chance if our midfielders and defenders can help in creating and scoring.

I mean the way our team won this game was quite refreshing. We've been predictable in the past games, which was always frustrating. I enjoyed watching Punch Masenamela tonight, he played like
a man possessed. Big up to him, I hope he keeps it up.

Our boys must work harder for the whole ninety minutes. The second half performance was way below par. I expected the team to create more chances going forward.

Anyhow, I remain happy about the three points and also about the goals scored. We needed this result badly.

FORWARD WE GO! YELLOW!!!

Yellow remains the colour of the number one spot!

Yellow I Was, Yellow I Am & Yellow I Will Remain! [SMILING:-)]

Basazokhala omakhala njalo. Badume ngakho vele, iseyinde lendlela esazohanjwa. On the last day of the season they will cry as usual. Remember Hans Vonk retired last season after being rewarded for the job well done on the last day of the season. I don't think Sandilands will fall for those peanuts this season. They know they are the umbrella boys.

Today our players just wanted to win. Nothing else and they had to sacrifice their normal game after scoring the second goal. I hope against maritzburg we can get that morale boosting victory that will c us finishing off in style( yellow style)

All Dunusa FC supporters are under delusion, u got 3points congrads but you cannot win the league with such pathetic performance! KC,SSU and FSS will finish you. You still cannot create goals you were gifted those goals. I'll say it again you will finish the season empty handed again, even all of you can see that.

Stop fooling yourselves chockers (you chocked again 2nd half). Dunusa FC always promise big things but you don't have what it takes. I don't like pirates but they stand better chance than you!
