Black Leopards lost 1-2 to Mamelodi Sundowns

Posted: 11 April 2012 Time: 21:30

Mamelodi Sundowns are back at the top of the Premiership table, after they beat Black Leopards 2-1 at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.

Man of the match Punch Masenamela scored first, before his goal was cancelled out by Samuel Mabunda. Masenamela, though, turned provider when he created the winning goal for the Brazilians with a superb left-wing cross, which was converted by Nyasha Mushekwi.

The game kicked off in the strangest fashion as Masenamela opened the scoring in only the second minute with a bit of a fortuitous goal.

The Brazilians' defender tried his luck with an unexpected 35-yard effort which worked its way through a crowd of players, wrong footing the keeper, as it found the back of the net.

Azwindini Maphaha certainly didn’t expect the Downs left-back to let fly from that far out and was actually moving to cover his right-hand post when Masenamela took the shot.

Leopards, though, were not to be outdone and hit back quickly, finding the equaliser 10 minutes later after Mabunda latched onto a Luyolo Mapolisa corner with powerful 12-yard header to level matters.

In the 21st minute the game found its third goal, this time goalscorer Masenamela turned creator when given too much space and time down the left flank.

The Downs man produced a pin-point cross to find Mushekwi, who did well to get in front of his marker, and glanced the ball into the back of the net with a six-yard header.

After the quick-fire opening 20 minutes the game settled down a bit as Sundowns controlled the possession stakes for the remainder of the half.

The second 45 was nowhere near as exciting as the first and, while the possession stakes were reversed, with Leopards seeing more of the ball, the home side could not create any decent chances on goal.

Downs still looked the more threatening going forward and came close to finding their third goal in the 59th minute when Lebohang Mokoena shaved the left-hand upright with a 22-yard volley.

That was the best of the second half action as both teams were wasteful in the final third of the field.

Dawana's let's humble ourselves and avoid going overboard in celebration of a win against a relegation candidate or going back to our Rat-infested top spot.

Let's rather dedicate tonight's victory to those who departed during the Ellis Park disaster on the same night, 11 years back. May their souls indeed rest in peace.

You show that you are one of those fathers who instead of talking good about his children he opts to talk negative and bad about them and talk good about the neighbors' children. That is a sign of poor mentoring.

How come you talk about/promote the other team when your team is struggling and is in dire need of your support? People are commenting about their teams and what about you? You are just a lost molecule. Anyway what can one expect from a homeless Zebras told to foetsek by the Football Manager?

Back to the game.........I still think Neeskens does'nt use his ar'senal to his advantage during matches, he still takes forever to substitute an ineffective player or to swing a game to our favour.

Teko whom he said we should wait for killed our momentum by thinking negatively as opposed to taking us forward even when attacking options avail themselves.

Mwanjali remains the prime suspect in the Asiagate scandal and will always battle to stay focused. mh.

I was glad though to see Mammpuru and Eezy ahead of Bomber-man Kekana for a change, his experience will come in very handy at this crucial stage and allow Moriri to venture forward stress-free.

All in all, Meneer Neeskens needs to be extra vigilant and avoid i-Cognac before the game. lol. atleast aksiyismehlana saka Palacios i-Old Buck dry gin eqeda i-voice! tl.tl.tl.
