Mamelodi Sundowns draw with Golden Arrows

Posted: 4 April 2012 Time: 21:18

Mamelodi Sundowns suffered yet another setback in their title chase following a goalless draw at home to Golden Arrows on Wednesday evening.

It was a game where the league leaders will rue their missed opportunities in front of goal.

Arrows were virtually non-existent in the match as they struggled to break down a resolute Brazilians defence and had to resort to shooting from distance.

We only had to wait two minutes for the first attempt on goal when Arrows’ Katlego Mashego narrowly missed the target from 20 yards out.

Following that early attempt on goal though, it was all Downs and they should have taken the lead in the 21st minute. Antony Laffor’s corner found Nyasha Mushekwi unmarked inside the box, but he headed the ball onto the crossbar from six yards out.

Four minutes later and Mushekiwi had another chance to score, but again he wasted his opportunity, heading the ball wide after meeting a Punch Masenamela cross.

The second half was the same old story as Downs pushed forward, but couldn’t find the right finish in the final third of the field.

In the 63rd minute the home side hit the crossbar for the second time when Hlompo Kekana latched onto a poor clearance, driving a 25 yard shot onto the woodwork.

Eight minutes from time and Surprise Moriri had a great chance to steal the victory, but much like his compatriots his radar was off, heading a Doctor Mampuru cross wide from six yards out.

The game ended 0-0 and Downs will rue their missed chances which now sees them tied on points with Pirates at the top of the table, though they have the superior goal-difference.

The Zebras and Flops never cease to amaze. Others were making noise about game in hand. Others were doing the same about 7 clear points.

What have game in hand and 7 clear points brought in terms of positive results? Can they show something that will show that by stating the reason above, respectively, they had advantage? Which advantage is that if there is indeed one?

Fake and selfproclaimed big teams. They will forever play second if not 10th fiddle to the mighty ones.

I will remain unshaken, the results of the games tonight doesnt change my belief that Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. will take this league without a doubt.

I still stand by this unit, Orlando Pirates have done well since the resumption of the league, and big up to them however I believe my YELLOW MACHINE shall paint the PSL title come end of the season.

Flops and Zebras have a lot in common and that was confirmed tonight. Yesterday heard of how VV must leave in peace. How come he play MasanCow and LebeCowse. How come he left NengomaCowsha on the bench.

Now listen tonight as the remix of the song from others. Nespray must be fired by Motsepe. Teko this Teko that. Mphela must be relegated to the bench...blah blah blah! There goes the song only enjoyed in Dormkop and NaZoorena.

You see now they are consoling themselves, Masankokos, by saying..."it doesn't matter because we are still on top". I wonder what is it that they will be saying on Monday..."There's still six games to go"?
