Bidvest Wits draw 1-1 with Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 25 February 2012 Time: 20:21

A second-minute opener by Bernard Parker and an equaliser by Sifiso Vilakazi four minutes later were all the goals at Mbombela Stadium between Bidvest Wits and Kaizer Chiefs.

There was a 10 minute delay to the kick-off following the late arrival of fans, but they were greeted by immediate action as Parker put Amakhosi in front.

At the other end, Sibusiso Vilakazi did well to gather the ball from a Chiefs player, before crossing to Sifiso Vilkazi who found the back of the net.

Chiefs applied all the early pressure as they continued to push the Clever Boys' back, and Parker had a header on goal, but it was no trouble for Emille Baron.

In the 25th minute George Lebese took a shot at goal with his weaker right foot, but Baron was again up to the task; while two minutes later Daylon Appolis was brought on to replace Masibusane Zongo owing to injury.

On the half hour mark Chiefs were guilty of some sloppy defending, and and open Vilakazi has a chance, but shot poorly.

Minutes before the hour mark, Patrick Phungwayo worked some magic on the flank to get a cross into the box, but the ball flew over the heads of his teammates.

Keegan Ritchie then created the first effort for Chiefs in the second half as he unleashed a long range shot that went high.

Wits won a number of corners in the second half, but were not able to turn them into anything.

Despite four minutes of added time, the match ended a stalemate.

The serve is doing its work effectively now. Things that not wanted are taken out...in essence the pretenders are beginning to make way for the real number 1 team.

I am sure the phrase “the league is a maRathon is synonymous with us Mabakaniya” and I am reiterating that the second stanza of the league is the stage where boy are separated from men and the first round's success cannot be a dertemining factor for success in the second round.

Aow, suddenly the Zebras are complaining about their team being average? In fact they are confessing (which to me means one is admitting).

Just last VV was the best coach and the team was the best after the 3-0 win over Swai Swai now this...talking of hypocrites. A yoyo team cannot win anything, today it's a win, tomorrow a loose, the next it's draw...they must forget.

this week VV is the best coach n nxt week VV must go.

this album would sell 20 cd's like Jabu Pule's kwaito album.

Chiefs fans your team is average n u need quality players. STOP BEING IN DENIAL. stand up and demand some changes in your team.

Sechaba: i thought chiefs won that marathon after 3 games when the season started.

u people n yo soccer experts wrote Pirates off this race and we Pirates fans reminded u how the machine of Orlando will operate until the last game in this race.

12 games to go and Pirates is the only team capable of winning all those game. remember 16 games unbeaten.

Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. shall be crowned the 2011/12 champions.

YELLOW is the way CHAMPIONSHIPS are won!

Yellow I Was, Yellow I Am & Yellow I Will Remain! (till WIKIPEDIA stops declaring Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. as the most successful team in South African football.)

if chiefs scored a "goal" like wits did it was going to be talk of the week, but bcos it is wits then chiefs is useless.Even if you hate a team check facts before commenting. What a pathetic match official a clear HAND GOAL stood to be a so called equaliser.

VV was happy to win against Gordon last week, he was praising his young stars not knowing that in the history of Gordon as a coach, he has never won more than 5games against chieps,
and for VV a 21yr old is no longer a young star, young stars are 17yrs old, can we get into ur head and that of pitso's thick one VV?

All psl teams are useless, except sundowns. I want all of u to watch sundowns from next season. When the yellow space ship is 100% flying.
The research clearly shows that the whole of south africa is missing the champ of style. My promise to them is the waiting is over. Results oriented football is for cowards, yellow is to stop all dis nonsense. We are tired of fong kong champions.

This Zebrahobo team is below average and worst part is that its supporters are in denial about everything happening in that Zoo.

Zebras wont win the the league and the reason is simple, you have the direct opposite of quality players that are running behind the ball with no direction........

As for SunDogs i think they have what it takes to win the league with the players they have, but because mamparas like abo Sweyts nabo Brazillito they are good in blowing a vuvuzela here on kickoff rather than on the grandstand..... thats what contribute to their downfall as the players and that micky mouse coach dont feel any pressure coming from the stands.........lol. So they will choke until the resurraction day while Bucs is collecting everything on offer!

So Bucs is the way to go.
