Bidvest Wits draw 1-1 with Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 25 February 2012 Time: 20:21

A second-minute opener by Bernard Parker and an equaliser by Sifiso Vilakazi four minutes later were all the goals at Mbombela Stadium between Bidvest Wits and Kaizer Chiefs.

There was a 10 minute delay to the kick-off following the late arrival of fans, but they were greeted by immediate action as Parker put Amakhosi in front.

At the other end, Sibusiso Vilakazi did well to gather the ball from a Chiefs player, before crossing to Sifiso Vilkazi who found the back of the net.

Chiefs applied all the early pressure as they continued to push the Clever Boys' back, and Parker had a header on goal, but it was no trouble for Emille Baron.

In the 25th minute George Lebese took a shot at goal with his weaker right foot, but Baron was again up to the task; while two minutes later Daylon Appolis was brought on to replace Masibusane Zongo owing to injury.

On the half hour mark Chiefs were guilty of some sloppy defending, and and open Vilakazi has a chance, but shot poorly.

Minutes before the hour mark, Patrick Phungwayo worked some magic on the flank to get a cross into the box, but the ball flew over the heads of his teammates.

Keegan Ritchie then created the first effort for Chiefs in the second half as he unleashed a long range shot that went high.

Wits won a number of corners in the second half, but were not able to turn them into anything.

Despite four minutes of added time, the match ended a stalemate.

Now that KC drew against Wits the league is no longer a marathon? Ppl r still to play their league game but already they won the league. U win 1 league game in 10 years and that makes u a league expert.
Hardluck Makhosi, we all know if a handball was a foul we would have won the game.
Where are all the hypocrites who always say KC always win games bcos of favours from refs? What are they saying about the Wits goal?

@Baroka how can a referee helped Chiefs against Pirates when Chiefs was leading your stupid team 2-0. In fact the referee helped Pirates to score that goal by Jele, it should have been disallowed for a foul on Josta Dladal because Jele manhandled Dladla before scoring. Baroka you are stupid you say the hand ball goal fit Chiefs just fine, they got a taste of their medicine. I think referees have made mistakes in favour of every team in the PSL, your team Pirates have benefitted a lot last season from poor officiating and yes Chiefs and other PSL teams had the referee's decision on their side sometimes. Last Chiefs lost the league to you stupid team because of the referee, Robert Sithole mistake when Chiefs was playing against the same Wits at Mbombela Stadium in a game that ended 1-1 in the second round. A Wits player passed Masango the ball when he was playing it back to his keeper and intercepted it and score, the goal was ruled offside. In the end Chiefs lost the league to your stupid team by a point and had the goal stood, Chiefs could have been champions by a point.
