Mamelodi Sundowns draw 0-0 with Jomo Cosmos

Posted: 19 February 2012 Time: 17:42

Jomo Cosmos will be pleased with a point away at Mamelodi Sundowns, after a 0-0 draw in their Premiership encounter at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday.

Despite the disappointing result, Downs still enjoy a three-point lead at the top of the table with 35 points from 17 games.

SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs are close behind the Brazilians on 32 points each.

Cosmos still sit in 15th place with 11 points.

With the number of chances they created, Sundowns should really have taken all three points. Katlego Mphela was one of the main culprits, and on 14 minutes sent a volley narrowly wide after a cross from Siyanda Xulu.

Jabulani Shongwe shot wide after good interplay with Teko Modise, before Mphela provided a ball for Lebogang Mokoena, whose shot was beaten away by Avril Phali.

Phali was called into action minutes later, when he tipped Themba Zwane's = curling shot wide.

Anthony Laffor added some energy to the Brazilians when he came on for the lacklustre Elias Pelembe after an hour, and sent in a great cross to an unmarked Mphela in the box, but 'Killer' headed wide.

Nyasha Mushekwi headed wide after a cross from Siyabonga Ngubane cross, and had another shot on moments later but was denied by an on-form Phali.

Matthew Rusike, who made some enterprising runs on the wing in the first half, had Cosmos' best chance half an hour into the match, but his attempt was easily saved by Wayne Sandilands.

Siyabonga Nontshinga could have given Ezenkosi a surprise win in the final seconds, but his shot flew just over the bar.

Mara di fan tsa Sundowns ke masepa fela. On a serious note how do you explain your team, a so-called big team, playing in from of 300 fans at home. Really this is not on. You are just a mickey mouse team really.

I have come to suspect that Sundowns fans on this site use multiple names to sustain the deceipt that they are a "big team" with a large fan base.

While I'm waiting for explanation from Sunkak fans can someone pls update me on how Orlando Pirates fared in their quest to CONQUER AFRICA. Phela they have been saying this since winning the fluke trebble.

It's really a desperate cry from our foes to be talking trash (i.e. to try to intimidate us by being boastful or insulting), while we know where your team sits in terms of log standing as well as how they've been playing, so take a chill please.

MASANDAWANA be warned, there is something called a PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE, which is defined as tactics that use propaganda to try to demoralize, disconcert and disadvantage an enemy in war, usually by causing the opponent to feel fear or anxienty.

So MASANDAWANA resist! We have watched this YELLOW troop, without a doubt they are extremely amazing to watch. A mere draw won't make me lose hope, NEVER. I REMAIN YELLOW and say this team will deliever the 2011/12 PSL championship to CHLOORKOP, the performance today was good but we couldn't finish the chances that were created. So we'll regroup and redeem ourselves I believe.

The same principle will apply to Pirates, you cant expect us to win every game even if we Pirates.

my bra Sundowns will choke again this season, even the win against Amzulu was not convincing.

The lose brought Pirates back to reality on what they will face in AFRICA, but domestically Pirates will win everything.

@KING, the thing with you is that you are one of those fans who follow a team's results instead of going to the stadium and judging the overall performance for yourself.

I REPEAT: Mamelodi Sundowns will remain top till the end, reason being, we have the necessary gizmos to carry out the taxing mission, the quality is there, the will is there, the determination is there and the hunger is forever around is this group. Then you have Mr. INTERNATIONAL, Sir Neeskens. SAY WHAT?

The results speak for themselve. MATCHES WON, GOALS SCORED, GOALS
CONCEDED, GOAL DIFFERENCE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY POINTS BAGGED. Thats Yellow sir. It shall never be refered to as choke.

YOU can't be telling us about choking especially when you're refering to this YELLOW troop, never. Yes join your friends and celebrate however don't be shocked when you still see the name Mamelodi Sundowns on position ONE week in - week out.

Your comments are pointless, period.
