Mamelodi Sundowns beat SuperSport United in a League clash

Posted: 16 December 2011 Time: 19:50

SuperSport United were handed their second defeat in a row as Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns beat them 3-1 in an Absa Premiership clash from the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.

To rub salt into their wounds, it was former player Teko Modise who netted twice for Sundowns.

Atusaye Nyondo’s 27th minute strike was cancelled out by a Modise opportunist goal a minute later, before Nyasha Mushekwi doubled the lead and Modise sealed the win for Sundowns.

SuperSport were missing Anthony Laffor due to suspension and coach Gavin Hunt opted to hand a rare start to Mduduzi Nyanda.

The surprise exclusion was that of Mogogi Gabonamong, who Hunt replaced with Thabo September in the central defensive midfield role.

A rare attack from SuperSport in the 27th minute saw Nyondo give them the lead after an assisting by Tebogo Langerman.

Modise equalized with a toe poke after a terrible mistake by Moffat Mdluli allowed him to steal the ball and score just seconds after Nyondo’s goal.

Then Punch Masenemela set up Mushekwi to hand Sundowns the lead in the 48th minute.

Captain fantastic Modise put the final nail into the SuperSport coffin when he netted after a brilliant turn, showing signs of the old Modise.

The Brazilians are now on top of the Absa Premiership log on goal difference, and will look to cement this position when they clash with Free State Stars in their final match of the year on Wednesday 21 December.

Jelous aside,a win is a win but when we call a spade a spade the game was very very boring. As a duby, there was high expectation on this game considering that it was a top of the table clush, but guess what?It turned to be as if it was F S Stars vs Santos.

It's amazing that already people are celebrating being on top. How many games played and how many are left before the last game of the season? Isn't it early days?

In the past three seasons I have got to learn that with the league being a marathon, one just need to wait for the fat lady to sing before making noise about winning the league...this is of course a message to Flops. Having said that, I wish to kindly say congrats in today's game.

Jah neh, the general seems to prove alot of us wrong, he solely destroyed ssp and could've scored 3goals, but a brace is morethan enough. Bigup the general (not that google earth kak). the guy really impressed me tonight but still they just holding the umbrella for now. There's absolutely noway we gonna fail sunclawanas after they did us this big favour by keeping ssp pointsless. Siwelele Sa Masele you better brace yourselves as bbm and company are coming for you, we gonna have ourselves a very nice sunday dinner, very awesome 6goals will be flying in all directions into celtics net. Pirates will cruise past that dancing team. BLACK RED AND WHITE ALWAYS.

So amazing! When bucs win by whatever the score,& the game turn out to be boring the bucs themselves are quick to tell it as it is,telling our coach to improve the game. But whe Sunflops does the same, the fans(Sunflops fans)want us praise a boring game?May be thus why we collect everything gold to Mayfair.

On a serious note though, when a ssp like team (even a zebra team) comes up against total footi playing teams like bucs, they will fall really short and it was evident once more tonight, although not the greatest of games but sunclawanas fully deserves the victory. Just watch the bucs and dancing teams game on sunday and you'll see the verysame happen to the ballet team as what happened to zebrawits ,but just double the entertainment provided by the champs and ofcourse double the goals too. PIRATES 6 : BALLETS 0. BLACK RED AND WHITE ALWAYS.

Gavin Hunt is a very-very-very sore BIG looser, according to him, his team never plays bad and instead of congragulating the opponents for a good performance he always try to break down their moral, Mr Hunt, get off your high horse, you are bitter and sour looser, period.

Yellow I Was, Yellow I Am & Yellow I Will Remain! (till Gavin Hunt and his baboon-like friends learn to applaud others gracefully without malice)

Ok, ppl must not confuse intermittent brilliant moments of football by Teko Modise as "fluid shoe shine & piano football" by Sundowns as a team!

Teko had brilliant moments, played well, led the team well but all of dis is by no means a fluid game by Sundown! We r jst happy dat Teko is gtng bck to his best. What he's doing now is what he used to do while still @ Pirates, we r merely congratulating him simplt bcoz we missed his brilliance on da field of play!

So Sunclowns fans, be realistic & honest & acknowledge dat goal 1 & 2 were gifted to Downs! Dey were by no means created by Downs!

So get off dat high horse... Bt ke enjoy it while it lasts...

I still says Neeskens is doing a good job.The man has transformed the team & has been brave enough to bench the regulars.Big ups to also using few foreigners in ur team.Only 2 started & I just wish that Chiefs can take note of this. You can't say ur a big team when you rely on foreigners. To Sundowns supporters:take time by looking at how patient this coach is with building his team.He is able to play his players according their strength.A coach is someone who comes into a country & doesn't rely on video footage of past games to pick a team.Neeskens big ups to you.

@TP:You are still living in the stone age era.You are a realy barbarian.Foreign players add a very good value to both our lig & BB.They put a lot of pressure to our players to work harder.Great teams like Arsenal,Chelsea,Man U,Liverpool,Man City,R Madrid,Bucselona,Inter&A Milan,Juventers,Ajax Amsterdam etc etc use a lot of foreign players, but their countries are the masters of both world cup &Euefa. So you mean thery are not big teams coz they use foreign players? If Nyawana & Yeye get signed by Realy Madrid, can you imagin the noise you can make? Will they not be foreigners there in Spain?Or is Spain part of Limpopo?Your brother Musona is in Germany,is Germany found in North West?Lesoto has no foreign players, how many world cups did they win?All idiots,i mean ileterate idiots who sing the same song like you must answer all these question.

i miss the days when we only had to deal with chiefs' loud months- now we have an itch called pirates to deal with too.
Why can't a sandawana celebrate his victory in peace?
Don't you fools have anything better to do except complain even when everything is going well?
Is your life really that pathetic to have already posted 5 articles on the team you don't care about? i understand that we hate each others teams- but please allow us time to celebrate our victories in peace the same way we don't discredit your wins no matter how marginal many of them have been.
