SuperSport United beat Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 30 November 2011 Time: 21:15

SuperSport United maintained their unbeaten start to the 2011/12 League season with a 2-0 win against Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday evening.

The top-of-the-table clash in Polokwane saw Matsatsantsa leading at the break thanks to Moffat Mdluli’s goal, and they wrapped up the points with 10 minutes left when Tebogo Langerman netted.

SuperSport started strongly and had early chances through Anthony Laffor and Ashley Hartog, though neither was able to get their efforts on target and trouble goalkeeper Arthur Bartman.

Amakhosi gradually worked themselves into the game and began to probe at United’s defence. On 17 minutes Lehlohonolo Majoro had a chance to open the scoring, but Ronwen Williams came up with a good save.

Ten minutes before half-time SuperSport went ahead through Mdluli, with the midfielder taking advantage of some slack defending to score from close range.

It could have been 2-0 on 43 minutes when Langerman had a sight of goal from inside the area, but this time Bartman did enough to block the effort.

Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic made two changes early in the second half, with Abia Nale and Lucky Baloyi coming off the bench to add some vigour and mobility to their midfield. The latter had a good chance to bring the visitors level on 73 minutes, but he shot wide of the target from a tight angle.

Just a minute later Bernard Parker forced Williams into an excellent save, with the young keeper tipping the Bafana Bafana forward’s shot round his post.

And Matsatsantsa effectively killed off the game as a contest on 79 minutes when Langerman turned home a cross from substitute Kermit Erasmus to make it 2-0.

Chiefs had a couple of chances late on through youngster George Lebese, but Williams had an answer for every question asked of him and ended the game with a clean sheet.

Chiefs is clearly a team in crisis. It all started with the stupid VV axing Tau as captain. The circus continued with Bobsteak's shocking "family business" rants. Then came the ridiculous appointment of new captain plus his committee. What is Bra K still waiting for? The writings on the wall...Fire VV & remove Bobby as team manager. Get a qualified professional in that role to prove it's more than "family business".

Family Business not doing so well. It dont matter this is a family business remember no amount of complaining chanting toyi toying boycoting will result in the coach being fired. The manager did not go for an interview, he was not appointed ny ANC or IFP.
