Maritzburg United and Kaizer Chiefs draw 0-0

Posted: 1 November 2011 Time: 21:26

Kaizer Chiefs were held to a goalless draw by Maritzburg United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The first half started in a positive vein and it looked like both teams would have a full go in attack.

This made for a great opening ten minutes as the game flowed from end to end, but the game quickly tightened up in the middle of the park and the chances dried up.

In fact, after Thomas Sweswe’s fifth-minute chance, the next decent opportunity of the match only came two minutes before the half time break.

Sweswe though, did have the first shot on goal when a loose ball fell to him from a corner-kick, but his close-range shot was well saved by Shu-Aib Walters.

After that Chiefs played the better football, but they lacked imagination in the final third and were unable to test Walters for the remainder of the half.

With the amount of possession the Amakhosi had they should really have done a lot better in the first half.

In fact, Lucky Baloyi should really have given Chiefs the lead going into the break when he had a golden opportunity in the 43rd minute.

George Lebese made a good run down the left and supplied a good low cross across the face of goal to find Baloyi unmarked with Walters completely stranded, but the midfielder miscued his shot into a United defender instead of into an empty net.

The second 45 saw a reversal of fortunes as the Team of Choice had the better of the half, using Felix Obada in particular to cause problems down the right flank.

Three minutes into the half and Obada made his presence known when he beat two defenders down the right wing before making his way into the box and fired a shot goalwards from ten-yards out, but it was straight at the keeper.

In the 58th minute Obada was at it again, but this time his shot went way over the crossbar when he could easily have laid it off to an unmarked Price Olomu at the back post.

Finally, in the 72nd minute Obada unselfishly laid off a pass across the face of goal after yet another great run, but this time his teammate Morne Davids let him down as he fired over from close range when he should have scored.

That was the last chance of the half for United as Chiefs did eventually take control of the half as they went in search of a winning goal.

But the Amakhosi could not break down a resolute Maritzburg defence as they earned themselves a share of the spoils.

Kaizer Chiefs supporters must now be careful with their demands, VV is not going nowhere according to Bobby Motaung. Its family business, remember. So for as long as Bobby is a Team Manager, VV will remain a head coach.

He he he!!! Kick Off mara!!

"Chiefs Drop 2 points in PE" Are you f.u.cking serious? Aint Maritzburg a professional team too? From what I know they have only considered 2 losses this season wherelse your so called Galaxy of Stars have 3 losses already which will go to 4 after the Swallows match. Hell man!!! Maritzburg came from behind and walloped your Pirates earlier this season. Kick-Off stop your rubbish reporting and respect other teams coz all of them prepare themselves well when playing Chiefs.

I bet that even when Lucky Khune is less instrumental and off-form.

He is still better than that the used and useless condom(Ndulula) and that wasted-sanitary towel(Mabena) combined.

Bobby Gadaffi has made it clear that, these chiefs fans means nothing to him and his family, he told them to F off like a piece of R*ubbish.

so why are they still using words such as our team, We,Rise.

read facebook, Twitter,my space,Linked,Mxit clever fans are joining clubs where they will be respected and appreciated. The numbers are dropping.

I will not comment on the game because this team is average, no manager,no coach and player are average, the chairman is not interested anymore.

The Family Business is not getting any cup this season, if Qgubule, Sithole and lekgetlane are unavailable for matches they lose or draw. Macufe is the only cup they will smell this season.

as much as i want vv to remain at chiefs, i would lyk to say let baloi play in the midle fighting 4 position wth yeye nd tinashe, thers no use of pushing the boy out wide, on the right we hv jd,masango, nale, mateba who can also play on the left, on the isue of striking department we all knw dat majoro and ncobo are injured so iwld hv xpected him 2start wth the young khune patnering hm wth parker, or use dominic mateba who was a striker at cicilians in order to give our midfilders options going forward. Coz we cnt blame parker for nt scoring wen playing against 4 defenders on top of dat the boy doesnt the physical presence to overcome this so vv and ur technical team
put ur act 2geda b4 its 2 l8 4 our title chalenge.
To hell with Pierats!!
