Maritzburg United and Kaizer Chiefs draw 0-0

Posted: 1 November 2011 Time: 21:26

Kaizer Chiefs were held to a goalless draw by Maritzburg United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The first half started in a positive vein and it looked like both teams would have a full go in attack.

This made for a great opening ten minutes as the game flowed from end to end, but the game quickly tightened up in the middle of the park and the chances dried up.

In fact, after Thomas Sweswe’s fifth-minute chance, the next decent opportunity of the match only came two minutes before the half time break.

Sweswe though, did have the first shot on goal when a loose ball fell to him from a corner-kick, but his close-range shot was well saved by Shu-Aib Walters.

After that Chiefs played the better football, but they lacked imagination in the final third and were unable to test Walters for the remainder of the half.

With the amount of possession the Amakhosi had they should really have done a lot better in the first half.

In fact, Lucky Baloyi should really have given Chiefs the lead going into the break when he had a golden opportunity in the 43rd minute.

George Lebese made a good run down the left and supplied a good low cross across the face of goal to find Baloyi unmarked with Walters completely stranded, but the midfielder miscued his shot into a United defender instead of into an empty net.

The second 45 saw a reversal of fortunes as the Team of Choice had the better of the half, using Felix Obada in particular to cause problems down the right flank.

Three minutes into the half and Obada made his presence known when he beat two defenders down the right wing before making his way into the box and fired a shot goalwards from ten-yards out, but it was straight at the keeper.

In the 58th minute Obada was at it again, but this time his shot went way over the crossbar when he could easily have laid it off to an unmarked Price Olomu at the back post.

Finally, in the 72nd minute Obada unselfishly laid off a pass across the face of goal after yet another great run, but this time his teammate Morne Davids let him down as he fired over from close range when he should have scored.

That was the last chance of the half for United as Chiefs did eventually take control of the half as they went in search of a winning goal.

But the Amakhosi could not break down a resolute Maritzburg defence as they earned themselves a share of the spoils.

VV is good at maintanining his dumb consistent approach...the team finished the game against Platinum Stars without a striker..and he starts another game without a striker....He has succeeded in killing the morale of certain players now his next is to destroy Baloyi...how can he play him as a winger..having noted in the past two ptrevious gmes that the boy is more comfortable playing in the middle or defending deep...scoring goals doesnt make him a striker...K4L...now the poor boy is being subjected to booing

Not good results, but well done to the boys, you cant win every game- so long as we dont lose- title should read thus:

"Chiefs and Maritzburg share a point"-

I guess some journalists are still hung up in the past, the very past they blowed out of proportion, and now that the fire is gone, they dont want to accept it, they keep blowing on the poor ashes in vain and wonder how they got it blazing the first time around...

I have good reason that KO is really f@uckng around on Chiefs business, or that its journalists are the shallowest bunch of reporters in the history of journalism.

- reports on the Tau saga where at first shallow, and when light was shed, they could not contain themselves i.e. how do you produce 15 separate articles saying the same thing about the same person in just 15 minutes, what communication is past there- its like being narrated a dull story by a person with a short-term memory problem, always repeating himself!
- After the Tau saga 15 minutes later, now entered the Bobby saga: 20 separate articles were produced about Bobby in just 12 minutes, all knived against his one statement- and wasnt there supposed to be a critical judgemnent or some neutral opinion? People like bo TTM exposed their lack of reporting skills when they joined the chorus of clueless fans who wanted Bobby out of his father's Co.- the same people should have got rid of Jomo Sono a long time ago.
-Chiefs won, only one article was published 92 hours after the game, and it did not allude to the fact that Parker's goal was unfairly denied- and almost 5 separate articles where published praising the cow Rantie without acknowledging how the rats got away with murder with a penalty that was not there- and that Parker was disallowed the goal was not a problem according to KO reporting!
- 5 minutes after the reporters got tired of praising mediocrity, they missed having fun, so they decided to poke Chiefs once more, even though the fire was gone- thus romours of Bartmann "assualting his wife" were spread like fear!
-Today, were are reminded of how we lost 2 points in PE- tell me, can you lose 2 points without losing a game? So what the KO report is saying is that Chiefs should win no matter what and any result (be it a drwa or lose) is a lose to Chiefs- thanks for the compliment but that is not how reality works: we win, draw and lose- we dont win and lose in the league!

What's next KO?
