Kaizer Chiefs beat Platinum Stars in a Premiership clash on Saturday

Posted: 29 October 2011 Time: 22:03

Kaizer Chiefs beat Platinum Stars 1-0 in a League match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday night.

The goal was scored by Lucky Baloyi.

Based on their first half showing though, it was certainly a deserved win for Chiefs.

Stars found themselves under the cosh from the very first minute as Chiefs attacked with pace and purpose, at a relentless rate.

It could have been a dream start to the game for the Soweto giants, but Bernard Parker’s superbly struck half volley from 18 yards smashed into the cross bar.

That was in the eighth minute, and eight minutes later Lehlohonolo Majoro squandered the opportunity to cap Chiefs’ strong start with a goal as he headed wide from Siphiwe Tshabalala’s in-swinging cross.

The AmaKhosi then appeared unlucky to be denied the opening goal in the 25th minute when Parker headed home, but he was ruled to be off-sides, or at least a couple of his team-mates were, either way, it was a debatable decision.

Chiefs continued to attack, but it looked as if Stars had done enough to keep their opponents at bay as the break approached.

But in injury time Lucky Baloyi broke the deadlock when he nodded in a corner at the near post.

The second half lacked the same intensity in its opening stages, which allowed Stars to finally come into the game, possession wise anyway.

There were two half chances for Joseph Malongoane, but the Stars midfielder’s long range shot was saved by Arthur Bartman, who also did well to dive at the feet of the same player 10 minutes later to halt his progress on goal.

As the game moved into the final 15 minutes it was Chiefs turn to have chances on goal, but Baloyi volleyed wide and then Abia Nale lifted his shot over the bar from 14-yards out.

The chance to nick a late point was wasted by Stars – in the 85th minute Nathan Paulse was played in via a delightful chip from Thuso Phala, but he took too long to get the shot away and Bartman intervened.

In injury time Jimmy Tau ensured there was no come-back for Stars as he headed Henrico Botes’ header off the line.

VV is out of depht Chiefs is too heavy for him I do not remember him winning a hard fought game in the second half,he always run out of ideas. We struggled to connect three passes in the second half LUCKY BALOYI is indeed lucky ,he gave away a lot of position and yet played for 90 minutes.Nengomasha was not effective,he was just in front of the central defenders.YEYE coming on in the last ten minutes while we struggle in middle? Majoro is not a main striker,a holder, VV please!!

Well, congratulations to "Bobby FC"or is it "Bobby and VV FC"?

I'm disappointed with my Limpopo people that went to the stadium, but then again everyone stand for what they believe. As I said before, I will support Chiefs from my television set UNTILL the useless Bobby(Fat f*ck) and VV(the
arrogant f*ck) goes.

Good luck to Cosmos, its time to get out of that danger Zone

You can tell this players are fed up with VV, they are very demoralized, even a blind man can see it. They are playing to honor their contracts. Now I believe it when our rivals says "we are broke". Chiefs cannot "afford" to buy the arrogant f*ck out of his contract.

I feel pity for a Mutaung family team for being surpoted by a vagrant like Joe banana. What ever he says its rubish.Even zebra family bussiness does not benefit from him.Now tha Herbex is showing the family's realy true colours, plz note that at bucs you are the only zebra who is unwelcome.

Against some of the cleverer teams in the PSL we would have lost last night.
Why do we sit back and wait for the opposition to equalise once we take the lead?
Why did we take off the only stiker we had on the field? VV is the only coach in the world who does this.If they had equalised we would have been in trouble
When are we going to realise that Yende and Nale should not be on the field? In fact, they should be given their clearances
VVs favourite defence pairing of Isaacs and Sweswe was as chaotic as always
Jambo always attacks well but 9/10 he can never find his man with a pass.He reminds me of Ngake.
