Kaizer Chiefs beat Black Leopards 2-0

Posted: 16 October 2011 Time: 17:17

A man-of-the-match performance from Lucky Baloyi handed Kaizer Motaung the perfect birthday present, as his beloved Kaizer Chiefs beat Black Leopards 2-0 on Sunday.

Baloyi was a class above the rest at Peter Mokaba Stadium and scored what proved to be the winning goal, and created the second one for Lehlohonolo Majoro, which sealed victory for Amakhosi.

Chiefs never looked like losing but were growing visibly agitated before they broke the deadlock with 30 minutes to go.

Chiefs were completely dominant throughout the game, controlling the possession and dictating the flow of play, but were unable to get the ball past a stubborn Posnett Omony, who made a number of excellent saves in the first half.

On 14 minutes Baloyi's volley had Omony at full stretch to his right to make the save.

In the 23rd minute Siphiwe Tshabalala tested Omony, but again the Leopards keeper was up for the challenge with another acrobatic save to his left, palming away a low 18-yard drive.

Five minutes later Sthembiso Ngcobo found himself through on goal with only the keeper to beat, but Omony was quickly off his line to smother the attacker. The ball, though, rebounded to Tshabalala who fired over the crossbar with the keeper out of position and an empty net at his mercy.

Tshabalala was again in the thick of action two minutes later with a thunderbolt from 25 yards out that finally beat the keeper, but struck the right-hand post and bounced away from danger.

Leopards only chance of the half came in the 39th minute after some good pressing from Rodney Ramagalela saw him steal the ball off debutant Brent Lawler and drive forward before unleashing a powerful 25-yard shot that went inches wide of the target.

The second 45 saw Chiefs continue in the same fashion, on top and controlling matters in the midfield.

Still they were not making the most of it as they opted largely to shoot from long range with little effect.

Eventually, in the 60th minute, Amakhosi were able to make the pressure pay off. George Lebese played Baloyi into some space on the counter-attach, and just inside the left side of the box he took a left-footed shot, finally beating Omony to make it 1-0.

19 minutes later Chiefs sealed victory with their second goal. Baloyi turned provider when he supplied a well driven pass across the face of the Leopards goal; all Majoro had to do was toe-poke the ball into a gaping net from a couple of yards out.

The win sees the Phefeni Glamour boys up to second on the log while the loss for Leopards keeps them second from bottom.

In his very first game i commented that this boy is the future, in the mold of Lucas Radebe. He is coming up thick and fast and he plays like a seasoned pro. Thank you VV for having faith in this boy. Lebese is another one, he must just wok on his stamina and we boom! we have the best of the best in our midst. Welldone boys. Lawler, good stuff. Eish Parker and Ngcobo man eish! Molekwane, great staff too. Welldone, we won adn we know the fleshless ones are unhappy about it.

well done boys esp. the coach. we shall win the league as long as the coach does not fight in public and hold grudges against underperforming players. a player who fails to follow instructions should be left at home. period. there should be no favourite players. well done guys. you showed some determination today. VV learn while YOU still can, young players are the future,so start laying it now. When the likes of Lawler,Lebese,Baloyi,L Khune et al will be well known we'll remember that it was YOU who gave them their first taste of first team football,in support of the other KHOSI here in this forum, you'll keep the opposition guessing by rotating your team.MABAFE ABANTU YINDUKU!!!!

Congrats my Team.

One cannot come here and praise VV for fielding the young team. The boys did well but we all know why VV selected them today. They beat siwelele and won the Macufe Cup, if it wasn't for Ace and Arthur, VV was never gonna give them a run. I still say, we are fedup with VV and his bad attitude. Did you see the post match interview with Carol, He didn't understand the question, he just started throwing his toys. Bobby, VV must leave our beloved Khosi. Arthur Z can do Bobby's job with ease.

Good performance as always by Baloyi.

Nonetheless, today's performance was by far the better one, compared to our last games, both league n cup

Happy Birthday Guluva

One win against a weak Leopards have made people to believe they have risen & are invincible. wow its amazing how football fans can sometimes be fools! If my memory serves me well my Pirates beat the same Leopards by 2 goals to nil & really there is nothing special about them.just like Cosmos, teams must easily collect points!
Realistically VV has an average team & we should not expect big things from him, while Leal has a great team & we should be expecting big things from him.Leal should not have excuses like having played too many games, talk of injuries because we have enough depth to compete against every team!

well done boys...keep the winning mentality....however, the coach should work on ebnsuring that you keep the structure on the third phase of our attack..the team loses possession easily when in opossion 18 area....My obeservation is that Baloyi gives away possession much easily in tyhe midfield nad our defence dont keep shape when we attack...they are always caugth napping...if the coach can work on this aspect of our game..we'll be unstoppable..K4L
