Ajax Cape Town beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 at Cape Town Stadium

Posted: 14 September 2011 Time: 21:28

Ajax Cape Town rode their luck to defeat Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 at Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday night.

Terror Fanteni opened the scoring with a penalty on 20 minutes, after Itumeleng Khune was adjudged to have tripped him.

Reneilwe Letsholonyane equalised in the 48th minute, before Lebongang Manyama got the winner for the Urban Warriors on 75 minutes.

AmaKhosi were bright and breezy early on, putting the Ajax defence under immense pressure.

The hosts were lucky to escape in the 11th minute when Bernard Parker’s stinging drive was pushed by keeper Sean Roberts onto the bar.

However, following some sloppy play at the back, the Urban Warriors earned a 20th minute penalty when Fanteni drew Khune into a foul; Fanteni converting the spot-kick with ease.

Chiefs looked to hit back and were unfortunate to see Lucky Baloyi’s teasing cross failing to pick out a teammate, before Thomas Sweswe sent a volley just wide.

Despite having had the better of the opening half, Chiefs went into the break 1-0 down.

Whatever was said in the dressing-room at half-time worked, as Amakhosi levelled matters just three minutes after the restart, Letsholonyane expertly curling the ball past a helpless Roberts.

The game remained tight, with no more than half chances at either end, until the Urban Warriors regained the lead after 75 minutes when the ball broke nicely for Lebogang Manyama, who showed great cool under pressure to poke home a low shot.

Chiefs rallied hard in the closing stages for an equaliser, but Baloyi lacked the power in his shot to beat Roberts, while Tinashe Nengomasha sent a header just over.

There was more late drama to come however as Lehlohonolo Majoro’s header was touched onto the bar by Roberts, as somehow Ajax hung on.

Not so long ago, Chiefs fans where singing praises of Bobby for bringing "quality players" in Mashamayite, Ritchi, Majoro,Parker

suddenly these players are useless.

Not so long ago VV was the special one, now he must pack his bags.

Not so long ago, the where undefeated in the cup final

Not so long Josta Dhladla as their key player...but now

Not so long ago Masango and Ngcobo where not Chiefs material, but now...

The problem at Chiefs is quality players and age factor.

Billiat said Chiefs defence is slow and he was insulted by Chiefs holligans.

Was Billiat right, ow yes, they are not only slow, they are also average and useless with the so called Mzansi's finest

They ride too much on the past, ye ye, we gave them 4 mabone last seaon, we also knock them out of MTN8. WHO IS LAUGHING NOW.

Every PSL coach has Leal's number just get tips on how to beat Chiefs.

For me Sthembiso brings in a totally different dimension in to the game pattern that Chiefs plays. If he is used play long corner kicks & crosses must come in for him.2nite I saw a lot of short corners & few crosses & how do you judge a player that doesn't get enough supply.Again that's just my opinion.

Makhosi Amahle,
We have 2 understand dat futbal is about lucky sometimes, the key factor in futbal is to hav a dat is playing well and then after you look for the results and definately results will cum, according 2 myself, Chiefs played very well, with tempo, enthuasiasm, courage and controlling the game, going forward very well,

Parker had dangerous short at goal, he was utilized de way we are expecting, nothing wrong with the coach, Ja, he cannot satisfied all of us, and we start 2 be desperate when we are loosing games,Yes it is not nice, but we have 2 be patient and results will come!

Like previous game, Pirates failed 2 penetrate our defence, it was just that flokky goal, which even himself can't repeat de same.

As for today, it was just an assimilation from Fanteni, by his luck he won it, but fact is he was alread falling before Khune's contact, anyway, you have to take it as it is,

Second goal, just a mistake from Nengomashe, fortunate 4 them it worthed a goal, but it doesn't mean that Bayesehlula.

Let's get together and go to FNB on saturday and support our team.

@Menkel give it a break man! You want Ace to repeat it, for how many tyms now? He ddnt against Sandilands you call him names, he than did it against ur number goalkeeper(who was suppose to chest trap it)what more do u want? What does losing mean if if it doesnt mean ukuthi bayanehlula? Playing gud football without results is useless!
