Kaizer Chiefs beat Jomo Cosmos

Posted: 13 August 2011 Time: 22:13

A rousing final 10 minutes saw ended with Kaizer Chiefs securing a 2-1 win over Jomo Cosmos at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

The Chiefs goals were scored by Lehlohonolo Majoro and Josta Dladla. The Cosmos goal came from Tshidiso Tukane.

AmaKhosi were in control of most of the game, but wasted far too many chances and should really have wrapped the game up by a larger margin.

The first half was Chiefs making most of the play, and Cosmos doing most of the chasing, with the visiting side showing the occasional threat on the counter-attack.

Chiefs were a constant threat down the right and it as from this channel that they scored after only one minute. Bernard Parker was the provider, whipping in a low cross, which was neatly, indeed delicately, turned home by Lehlohonolo Majoro.

Chiefs created a couple more half chances, but Cosmos keeper Avril Phali was not overly troubled.

In a rare attack, in the 16th minute, Cosmos’ Nonyane broke through on goal, but Ithumeleng Khune moved quickly off his line to close down the angle and made an excellent save. He was however hurt in the challenge and was replaced five minutes later was Arthur Bartman.

Chiefs though for the most part were on the ascendancy and could have added further goals if Parker had managed to curl his shot on target or if Siphiwe Tshabalala had done better with only Phali to beat.

Ezenkosi could have however equalised just before the break when Bartman parried Siyabonga Nontshinga’s header straight to Phethego Maebela, but he blasted wide from only five yards out.

Chiefs came out playing with purpose after the restart, with Tshabalala leading the way.

The Bafana midfielder had two efforts in quick succession, but both were superbly dealt with by the outstanding Phali.

The hosts should have made it 2-0 after 72 minutes when Majoro was fouled by Nontshinga.

But Parker, on his right foot, shot far too close to Phali, who saved with his legs.

Cosmos equalised with eight minutes to go, Bethuel Tukane scoring with a wonderful curling shot into the top corner.

It seemed as if Chiefs were going to have to settle for a draw, but in the 89th minute Tshabalala floated down the left flank and squared for Josta Dladla for an easy tap in.

Cosmos ended with 10 men after Siyabonga Nhlapo was sent off in the dying seconds.

vv must instil positive attitud to his players.his team has a tendancy of scoring 1 goal and think its done 4 the day.also he must remember that its a deciding season 4 him. 2, we dont have a backup to khune, bartman also knows wat i mean. That softy he concedered decribes overal person he is, not chiefs material.3,sweswe we r watching u, ask tsotetsi kune is injured cause of u.4, yende thinks he has arrived, soon he wl complain abt de bench. 5, masango, we r in busines here boy u either play or u ship out.

Sometimes hatred and jelous makes people say stupit things.I'm a Downs fan but why are ppl saying Chiefs is bad if they won a match fair and square. Pirates won againts Lepards with both goals mistakes bt yhe keeper. Are we going to say chiefs are gud if they lose their matches ?

If this is what will be seing by chiefs this season i can say without fear or favor that it will be disapointment after disapointment...we can not compete. Thanks to Shabba, you showed comitment people can talk whatever sh*t they want about that boy but shabba it is a great player.
The fact is, it's useless to dominate and not score (win).By the way WHAT A GREAT GOAL by Jomo's boys u teached Bartman a lesson:he must learn to position him self in future, what a wonderful goal.

Khosi come rain come sunshine,4life.

Vlad V must be seriou and not defend just 1 goal nd Parker must be serious too that's not wits we were playing. I think Majoro is releaved now but we want more goals. Swallows won convincingly we play them next time. We must focus nd burry our chances not depend on soft penalties. This is a wake up call. Vlad V what happened to Ngcobo. He's good on aerial balls.

Average zebras wil never win da league dis season. 1 plastic trophy per season wil stil prevail & never 3ble. I saw Parker running lyk a pig for 75min & da poor guy missed a static ball (pnlty). We saw McCarthy for 10 minutes & witnesed good touches plus a goal! Parker wil kiss Bafana Bafana goodbye very soon. Vicks Vaporub aka vV is always running out of ideas & rely heavily on referee now & then! Zebras are going no where slowly! Once a pirate....always......Up the Bucs!

Thats history nw my girls. Bcos since 1992 u won the league twice, thats 1 league title per decade. Football 101 is a course at the University of Orlando.
