Sundowns stunned by AmaZulu

Posted: 22 December 2010 Time: 21:37

AmaZulu stunned Mamelodi Sundowns with a 3-2 success in a thrilling Absa Premiership clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday.

Lehlohonolo Majoro's brace put Usuthu in control and they led 2-0 at the break, but Sundowns hit back through Katlego Mphela and Lionel Mtizwa. But AmaZulu sealed the points with a late strike from Tangeni Shapahu.

Namibian striker Shipahu, who was one of the star performers in AmaZulu’s 4-0 win against Mpumalanga Black Aces on Sunday, should have given his team the lead as early as the fourth minute.

Defender Siyanda Xulu gifted Shipahu a clear run at Wayne Sandilands in the Sundowns goals by missing an easy clearance. But the striker shot hopelessly wide when he had the goal at his mercy.

However, continued pressure from the visitors yielded a goal for AmaZulu when Sibusiso Hadebe’s precise pass from the centre of midfield cut open the Sundowns defence and fell perfectly for team mate Majoro who was located in the opposition penalty area.

The striker, who also bagged a brace of goals against Aces, controlled the ball expertly and fired coolly past Sandilands in goals. Majoro doubled the Usuthu’s advantage after linking up with Shipahu in a move that started in AmaZulu’s own half. Once again, Majoro was able to finish with aplomb.

Sundowns got just the break they were looking for to get back into the game when they were awarded a penalty in the 51st minute. Mphela, who came on as a halftime substitute, pulled back one for the hosts.

From then onwards it looked certain that Sundowns would draw level and possibly pull clear as they were completely dictating play. Mabhuti Khenyeza should have restored parity when he had clear sight of goal in the 59th minute, but he hit his volley onto the AmaZulu crossbar.

However, the Brazilians eventually drew level in the 77th minute when a Mutizwa volleyed home during a goalmouth scramble.

With the stage set for the Sundowns to pull off a memorable comeback, it was the visitors who claimed the spoils when Shipahu finally managed to find the back of the net in the 90th minute with a lobbed effort.

Hehehehe...Motsepe buys the referres??? He bathong!!!! You lost to Vasco Da gama & Free State Stars, how does that involve our President??? The League is not the Telkom Knockout Cup that you won twice in 2010 by playing just 8 games.

We have won the League 5 times & we know what it takes to win the League & to win it 3 times in a row. Should we fail to win the League & Chiefs take it, they will have won it only 3 times compared to our 5 times.

Wonder:
Your team plays a boring and pathetic football and always sits back to catch the opponents on counter. There is nothing like undermining.
Santos=Rundowns/Sundowns.
There is no difference between these two cows.
Did you see world class by that young and talented cabbage thrower?

Hehe the general is back hehe the navigator is back hehe Teko is back after 2years playing crap kuphi? The guy is still proving that he was overrated now he just shoots any ball wanting to be a hero after spending 18 months without scoring a goal. Platinum stars is not struggling like Swallows that’s why the average player produced average performance.

To all the kaizerbels disguising as ' Organizers' just shut your big mouth. We are not a team of pretenders so go where you rightfully belong. Coming to the game, my team was pathetic to say the least. I am personally not a big fan of Mkhwanazi. For me he is too ordinary to be selected ahead of other talented and experienced players. He turns to the back too much and proof is Amazulu's winning goal. Mkhwanazi had ample space infront of him bt opted to turn back. We need a natural right back and NOT Vuyo Mere for obvious reason. Alternatively . Mungomeni can play right back with . Siyanda playing as a central defender where i think they are both comfortable. Our coach needs to work on our back 4 especially the two centre backs. The combination of Booth and Mungomeni is just not ayoba. All is not lost Ma-Sundawana.

all period pains aka Nontobeko: i am around stabane. You claim Sundowns plays boring football yet they are sitting on top of the table. These period pains clearly make u think with your vagina.

Nkanyim: dis is not laduma website wena coward who forever hibernate when his team lose and has a big mouth when other teams lose. Shut up cockroach.

Tpipi/zozo: . Sundowns is still on top with 4 clear points. In order for your average team to catch them, you need to win and play to a draw whilst Sundowns will be folding. To all these cockroaches from natulawayo complaining of the referee, just shut you sewage stinking mouth. How many dubious decisions have you benefitted from the referee? Sundowns didnt build their brand on theft whilst the same cannot be said of this stupid team of yours. When Jerome Demon, your card carrying member penalised . Darren Keet of Wits( had to explain since most of you are dumb despite each having 4 degrees), you should have opened those sewage stinking mouth. Disrespect Sundowns, 1st round leaders at your own peril.

Its a sad lose, but that does n't take Sundowns out of contesting for the league, Big teams lose as well, its part of the process towards the finish line.

Chiefs fans are just pathetic, the first comment had to come from them, because Sundowns is not suppose to lose but when their lose, they will find a justifying reason to make the whole SA understand that its accepatable and Ok for Chiefs to lose.

Kaizer Cheifs is the only team that allowed to lose. I will reapeat myself again, its always difficult to play the smaller teams espicially those under pressure. Manqoba needed this win.

Sundowns dont realise that Shongwe is ready and can make things happen for them, Shongwe can revive the number 10 jersey at Downs.

its still a race and Pirates will suprice the country.
