Vasco da Gama deny Kaizer Chiefs three points

Posted: 1 March 2011 Time: 22:01

Kaizer Chiefs endured a frustrating goalless draw against Vasco da Gama on a hot Tuesday night at Athlone Stadium.

The first half was for the most part evenly balanced – Vasco were not unduly troubled, though it was Chiefs who certainly enjoyed the edge.

Chances though were few and far between with Mthokozisi Yende managing a weak attempt before Tlou Molekwane forced keeper Posnett Omony to fist the ball to safety with a rocket of a shot after 22 minutes.

The half at least ended with a bit of a flourish as first Vasco’s Keenin Lesch completely missed the ball when attempting a volley 12-yards out and then Abia Nale, clean through on goal, was denied by Omony, who made a brave save.

Amakhosi were on top after the restart, spending most of their time camped in the Vasco half.

But the home side’s defence was rock solid, with Mokete Tsotetsi in particular in superb form against his former team, meaning that the visitors struggled to find any space in and around the box.

The introduction of both Stanton Lewis and Knowledge Musona added fire-power, yet neither were able to get on the end of any clear-cut chances as Chiefs continued to be frustrated.

The draw gives Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town the chance to steal an advantage over the Phefeni Glamour Boys in the title race on Wednesday while Vasco move another point closer to a second season in the top flight.

Chiefs unable to taste top spot and just forget about the championship. Chiefs must just throw in the towel and stop hauhau about chasing top spot.
Orlando Pirates very poisonous, lose and draw against them then expect chaos. VV is loud mouth and to those do not know, he is going by end season as failed to win leaque. Chiefs without tshabalala is moron.

I am sure Kaizer Chiefs fans now understand the meaning of quality.

As they worry about quality, we will be on a quest to save one of the oldest and important team in SA known as Morokwa Swallows by beating Maritzburg united.

If you help others, u help yourself and God likes it that way. Pirates will help Swallows and God will keep Pirates on top.

Tonight we are going 4 points clear from our Haters

are they still looking for a treble! doubt if they have what it takes, but they must stop this thing of saying the TOP spot belongs to them, now the only threat is Ajax, but that we'll deal with in Cape Town soon! first we have to deal with Maritsburg, then Celtics!

This is not the time for draws chasing the champioship. chiefs given a chance atleast to taste the top spot but failed. Oh my GOD.
Musona and Ngcobo are dead woods. Scored against Orlando Pirates then pride yourselves on street, definately finished and gone.
