Bidvest Wits hold Kaizer Chiefs to a draw

Posted: 6 April 2011 Time: 21:50

Despite a great second half performance, Kaizer Chiefs drew 1-1 with Bidvest Wits on Wednesday.

Sifiso Vilakazi opened the scoring for Wits, before Reneilwe Letsholonyane equalised.

The result was Amakhosi’s fifth successive draw and leaves them six points off the pace of log leaders Orlando Pirates, though they do have a game in hand.

While it seemed to be a stroll in the park for Amakhosi in the first 15 minutes, they took their foot of the pedal and allowed Wits to open the scoring.

Sifiso Vikazi pounced on Itumeleng Khune’s mistake to score Wits’ opening goal in the 20th minute.

A minute later, Khune atoned for his earlier mistake when he did well to parry Sibusiso Vilakazi’s shot out for a corner.

Chiefs could easily have rattled the back of the net three times in the opening 15 minutes, but Sthembiso Ncgobo, and Reneilwe Letsholonyane’s shots flew over the bar, before Darren Keet denied Siphiwe Tshabalala.

Chiefs thought they have found that much needed equaliser when Mandla Masango netted in the 46th minute, but he was ruled offside by the referee Robert Sithole.

And Chiefs could have levelled matters in the 50th minute, but Patrick Phunwayo did well to disturb Masango before he could connect with a Siphiwe Tshabalala’s cross.

Chiefs finally managed to pull one back when Masango's cross found Letsholonyane, who made no mistake in the 57th minute to put Amakhosi on level terms.

After Chiefs’ goal both teams displayed some wizardry on the ball, much to the delight of the fans who came in numbers to fill up the stadium.

The two teams meet again in a Nedbank Cup clash on Sunday at Bidvest Stadium, a game that will really separate the men from the boys.

This heading is not right. This is what it must be:

Kaizer Chimps hold Wits to a draw.

It's unfair uyazi. Chimps scored an equalizer not the other way around. I guess the same is going to happen in the Nedbank cup.

The only thing that will sustain Chiefs fans in this league is their jealousy. The only thing they will wish for is for Pirates to lose. Pirates lost is always Chiefs' win in their eyes. That is the tripple they are shouting about.

This was not the last draw for Chiefs, more is still coming including a loss to Sundowns. Chiefs will never be robbed in this league as they are the ochestrating the robbing, its just that the boys relax so much & leaving it to the referee to win it for them. but what's new can we say. " Chiefs will not win the League" you can qoute me on that

It's crucial time of league season yet Kaizer Chiefs coach keeps on sidelining Josta Dladla as he prefer Mandla Masango.
VV must know that his personality clash and lack of man management will work against his future at Chiefs and by that time, he would have caused Chiefs the League title and Nedbank Cup.
There's no substitute for experience and during this time of the season experience is key. Yesterday Hans Vonk saved what would have been Sundowns turning point when he saved a Mphela's penalty. Sundowns also keep from 4-1 to level matters in a space of 15 minutes. Brett Carelse his scoring crucial goals for Ajax. Who's scored Pirates goals yesterday? Yesterday's goals mostly came from experience wingers yet VV keeps on sidelining the best and experience winger in JD. Why VV? I'm sure Chiefs coach already know's that his contract won't be renewed next season.
Chiefs team including its coach don't show desire of winning the remaining games. The Motaungs must watchout...

6 POINTS differents between THE GALAXI OF STARS and the average ill moral team with 4 games remaining and some fans are still hoping to lift the League. Ag Chiefs fans are losers.

Their next game is SSU and i am sure of a draw or SSU wins. Chiefs lack quality players and that is fact and even their coach attested to this.

It's not the end of the world, though one must admit the championship's gone, one thing's for sure though, PieCity, with all the loudmouthed fans will not taste the ABsa trophy, if that happens, then Mugabe will relinquish power in Zim!! Can't wait for end of season when Omakhalanjalo will be doing what they famous for, i reckon your celebrations are premature!!!!!!
