Thulasizwe Mbuyane scores late on for Orlando Pirates

Posted: 26 February 2011 Time: 17:31

Thulasize Mbuyane scored in the final minute as Orlando Pirates drew 1-1 with Kaizer Chiefs at the Soweto Derby at Soccer City.

Some have said it wasn’t a classic match but if not it sure was high on entertainment and commitment.

As the Chiefs players left the field it was evident they felt they gave away a full three points, allowing Pirates to score so late in the game.

But the Pirates players were ecstatic afterwards, raising their arms high after a gutsy second half fight back.

It was Thulasizwe Mbuyane's header at the back post from Mabena's cross that earned the draw. Itumeleng Khune couldn't reach the deep cross, but 'Juju' did not miss out.

It had taken just twelve minutes for the opening goal. Tau and Dladla played a one-two on the right channel and Tau whipped in a perfect cross, which Motaung Jnr headed in from close range, although replays showed the ball came off his shoulder.

At this time, Chiefs were in control with some great combination play involving Josta Dladla, Yeye Letsholonyane and Knowledge Musona.

It has to be said that the ball was in Meyiwa’s territory, but in his defence he had two defenders in front of him challenging Motaung Jnr for the ball and so he couldn’t crowd the area.

Pirates’ first chance came after 23 minutes when Katlego Mashego broke free inside the area, but his right-footed shot flew across goal and out for a goal kick.

Pirates were much improved after the break, playing more as a unit, and they exerted some early pressure only to keep pushing Chiefs right until the death.

In the end a draw was a fair result as Pirates fought hard to create chances in he second half and it paid dividends.

One of kaizerbels' achievements this year is that they were number 1 on the log for 92 min until Mbuyane became jealousy to cancel this special achievement ha ha ha. Shame on fat face Bobby and their number 1 supporter Jerome Damon. This overated likes drama and is just an overated pig. Sies! Some teams sweat for their wins whereas dat cannot be said of others. It is also suprising dat the ' best playa' in SA Musunu is a shadow of former self. Talk about i-steam se ENO.

...but Chiefs were celebrating as if they won the game till the 92nd minute. I would assume that Pirates were celebrating the fact that Chiefs' fans celebrated prematurely and ended up with an egg on their faces. I would have celebrated too. I don't understand why Chiefs fans celebrated prematurely but I must say it made a draw sweeter for Pirates when they saw those red-faced Chiefs fans. Scoring an early goal seems to be a win for Chiefs.

A lot of credit to Manyisa, he outplayed two of the great players in PSL..Yeye and Shabba.

By the way congratulations to Pirats for winning the game.

As for our players who opted to defend one goal in the 2nd half and give us a boring game, they all deserve to be called Makhosikazi(I dont like this name but they deserve it). If there is one team that deserves to Win this league is Rats, they fight together and they dont give up. As much as I dont want them winning the league, I think they deserve it. However good luck to Ajax. Our position(Kaizer Chiefs) will be 3rd till the end of the season. mxm.
