Chiefs up to second

Posted: 29 January 2011 Time: 22:19

Kaizer Chiefs have moved into second in the Absa Premiership with a 3-1 victory over Maritzburg United at FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

Siphiwe Tshabalala scored an excellent brace, while Stanton Lewis should be credited with Amakhosi's third after the ball deflected off him and into the net, while Fadlu Davids managed a consolation for Maritzburg.

Chiefs took the lead on nine minutes with a beautifully worked goal as Knowledge Musona fed a ball into the path of Tshabalala, whose run was timed to perfection and he rounded Shu-Aib Walters in the Maritzburg goal with ease before firing home.

Lewis created space for himself on the edge of the area and fired in a shot that was well-saved by the keeper, but seconds later there was drama up the other end.

Amakhosi defender Valery Nahayo was adjudged to have handled the ball as he tried to block a low cross and the visitors were awarded a penalty by referee Daniel Bennett. However, Rudolf Bester saw his effort saved by a diving Khune, and Chiefs managed to keep their lead intact.

The home side doubled their advantage on 59 minutes in bizarre circumstances. Nahayo powered in a header from a corner which looked to be going straight at Walters, until it deflected off the back of Lewis and into the net. Nahayo claimed the goal, but it is unlikely that it would have gone in without Lewis' inadvertent touch.

Maritzburg got themselves back into the game when they profited from a mistake from Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, who tried to punch the ball clear from a corner but missed, and Davids bundled the ball over the line.

But the joy was short-lived for the visitors as Tshabalala netted a superb third for his side, beating three defenders before unleashing a thunderous drive into the back of the net.

Abia Nale hit the post late on for Chiefs, and there were a few more half-chances, but the scoreline remained the same to the end and Amakhosi move up to second in the table, two points behind Orlando Pirates.

Another gud thing that LEwis boys is a gud player. You can see he has played football in Europe, If he can improve on his off side timing I see him causing havoc. I sense that once he starts scoring he's not gonna stop. Our haters and enemies must be shitting in their pants.

If you still call Shabba Nyawana, Nyawana ke kokwago who cannot walk straight. Kidding, Anyway it doesnt matter whether you hate him or love him he is a great player, he is progressing and does what what matters for the team: score crucial goals and create crucial goals.

He passed the trial with flying colors bcos he is not a trial material and forest will be playing in EPL next season if he is a key player there he will be seen by many teams and everyone.

Another thing is that our win makes Chibuku FC fans VERY worried. I can imagine the diappointment of their stupid fans. The excitement of their dum dum win is gone. They will never be happy as long as MIGHTY CHIEFS are winning matches. If a thief is running away from a man he knows runs faster than him the thief knows that unless the chaser trips he's gonna catch up with him. Chibuku FC fans hope that since we always wallop them other teams can do them a favour. The idiots were so happy when we drew 2-2 with Celtic though it is now clear that under the circumstances the result was a gud one for us.

I can imagine how this idiot Juan Pablo's hopes were raised when Maritzburg scored that fluke goal. I'm sure he prayed with his stinking ass facing upside for an equaliser only to s*hit his trousers when Shabba scored the 3rd goal. G'nite Makhosi.

How people wish Sunflops FLOP today so that they stay on position two. Anyway they are number two from WHO?

I so wish Sunflops doesn't FLOP today so that the loud-mouthed can languish at the bottom part of the top 3...perhaps one should say where they BELONG.

I am sure they are praying for Mosono to heal fast...anyway they are so cruel...they played him even though he was carrying an injury...that's symbolic of a team that solely depend on one player. I am certain they have consulted with their divine to plead for Mosono to heal. A desperate time calls for desperate measure anyway...hence they played him with the injury.
