Orlando Pirates beat Bidvest Wits

Posted: 22 January 2011 Time: 22:18

Orlando Pirates came back from a two-goal deficit to register a 3-2 win against Bidvest Wits at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.

Goals from Stanton Fredericks and Sifiso Vilakazi gave Wits a 2-0 half-time lead, but Bucs came back strongly in the second half to score three goals through Isaac Chansa (brace) and Katlego Mashego.

The result means that Wits have now gone eight games without a win, while Pirates have managed the same number of games without a loss and have gone to the top of the standings on 32 points after Sundowns lost 1-0 to SuperSport United.

Pirates didn’t take any time in signaling their attacking intent when Chansa zoomed past Wits defenders in the seventh minute, but his attempt was well blocked by Michael Morton.

Bucs goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa made a brilliant save in the 22nd minute to deny Patrick Pungwayo what looked like a goal when he parried for a corner.

At that stage Wits had the upper hand and deservedly found a breakthrough courtesy of Fredericks in the 25th minute when he capitalised on Meyiwa’s failure to handle Sifiso Myeni’s cross.

The goal seemed to ignite the visitors as they enjoyed a threatening spell for the next four minutes and it came as no surprise when, under pressure, Meyiwa once more fumbled a shot from Sipho Mngomezulu and Vilakazi pounced on Meyiwa’s mistake.

Pirates regrouped in the second half, but still Wits gave them a tough time. Roger de Sa’s charges played a defensive game and it was difficult to penetrate. Darren Keet produced a stunning save when he denied Oupa Manyisa in the 47th minute.

Pirates could have at least scored their first in the 60th minute, but two consecutive shots from Oupa Manyisa and Mark Mayambela hit the post.

Pirates never gave up fighting and finally scored in the 68th minute through Chansa. Mayambela then zoomed past Pungwayo before crossing to the Zambian to score his second for the day with an easy tap-in in the 72nd minute.

At this stage Pirates were dictating terms for their opponents. With the ball now swinging from end to end, with both sides looking for the third goal, the action kept the fans on the edge of their seats.

But it was Pirates who came up victorious after another Mashego sent their fans into raptures. The Pirates striker capitalised on Kampamba Chintu’s defensive error before beating Keet to score in time added on.

With the mistakes that Meyiwa committed, I'm afraid he may never get other chances anytime soon, only a miracle will save. To me I think he is very rusty hence those mistakes but to other people ke majesa.
I just hope he be forgiven.

No one has a right to call Happy people family hypocrits.

These are the fans who wants what is best for their team and this is amzing because it puts Kroll on toes. He nows he cannot mess with Happy people.

I am reapeting again, we dont like Kroll but we love Pirates, so you might as well support The Dutch master tactician untill our Chairman Dr Khoza decide otherwise.

On the game, WOW, These things only happen in major leagues, from a 2 nil down to 3-2 win. Pirates is SUPERBRAND with a GALAXI of STARS.

Mabhakaniya please support Kroll, no matter what. I must say thanks to ADIDAS for designing one best jerseay in the world. Pirates jersey is the best in the WORLD and its at every corner of SA.

Thanks Mabhakaniya for flying the BUCS SUBERBRAND high.

Qulaity is quality - Mahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooota baba.

Kroll must now unleash THE NAVIGATOR for last damage against Sundowns and The cabbage land. Both teams are scared of Teko General Navigaotr Modise.

If we look at Teko's last game against Swallows and then conclude that he is off form. Then no one in the PSL is on form because no player come close to the perfomance that Teko General gave.

He was the man of the match against Siera Leon and destroyed Maritzburg U, What do you people have against this Black son of soil called Tsolofelo Teko Modise the richest footballer in the PSL.

Isaac THE REAL NTHO TSE MONATE Chansa......is the real deal.

Kaizer Chiefs must explain to us why did the steal isaac Chansa nickname and gave it to that one leg Mtatazela Shabba.

Chansa is the real Ntho tse monate back in the days of Peri Peri The Principal Motapa and Okonko.

i luv what Chansa said on his interview with soccer 365 that, there is only one missing link in the team and that is Teko and he even said he also learn some of his game from Teko, because he rates him as the best in SA.

Yah King:
Where is that Peri peri the principal??? He was a complete player.

If I were you, I wouldn't even dare to mention teko's name because he is the one who causes confusion and problems in the Pierskupu's camp.
